View from the booth Saturday night at Cafe Riva…. You blow my mind 🤯! That was community spirit maxed out off the scale 🚀💥!

Whilst we try and put together some bits of footage we gathered along the way (please dm us any good vids/photos you took!), I just wanted to say a personal THANK YOU 💜 to the dancers, the DJs, the entertainers, the litter pickers, to Emily and all the Hush Club and Cafe Riva team behind the scenes… That really was very special. Here we go… Join us at Cafe Riva this weekend for Bournemouth Airshow 2024 🛩️! We will be raising money for the Homelessness Partnership BCP with Dorset Community Foundation whose mission is to support people and organisations locally to tackle homelessness in BCP ❤️.

Friday 4 - 9 We are bringing back the Friday night Disco! 🪩 With the legendary DJ Chris Wheatley () at the controls 🎧. Alongside many local parties, Chris also regularly DJs for Brixton Disco Festival, We Out Here Festival, Up On The Roof, the list goes on and on... Not to be missed! 💥

Saturday’s fun starts at 12:30 with the incredible Groove Om Yoga providing a free disco yoga session! 🧘🏽‍♀️ It’s the perfect way to start your day in the sun 🌞. A limited amount of mats will be available to borrow on the day, if you’ve got your own, bring it down. Following that we will joined by our fave Nick Shearer, DJ Roast Beatz, and The Hush Club DJ’s, taking you through to 9pm (Maybe a ‘Hush Club classics’ set from Si Kilmo?!) 💥. The wonderful Minky Moos Children's Entertainment will be bringing down a very special guest to meet the little ones 👶, Festidolls will be on site to get you looking right ✨, there will be bubbles 🫧 and bouncy castle action for the kiddos 🏰. Pizza from The DOUGH BOX BH 🍕and multiple other local food and drink options for you to choose from (come and try a Hush Club cocktail direct from the DJ booth!🍹). If you are planning on bringing your own food and drink, you will be expected to make a donation on entry 💳. Please put ALL of your rubbish in the bins provided. LEAVE NO TRACE 👣.

As always, The Hush Club strives to create a safe and inclusive space for the local community. This is a FREE event. Everyone is welcome, but this is only possible when you respect and look out for each other and the environment. Be kind ❤️. DON’T BE A DICK ✊🏼

Lovely to talk with Rob from Cafe Riva, Southbourne today.

Great to hear Rob’s thoughts about how to make the area even better and the risk of The Hush Club’s Air Show event being its last at Cafe Riva.

Thanks to everyone who has been in touch to express their views on this risk. Unfortunately I’m not the decision-maker here. I’m trying to convene conversations and finding out more from all those involved. I’m trying to ensure every avenue is explored to protect events specifically and our local scene generally.

Southbourne has a thriving scene and it would be a huge shame to lose this and other events which make the area so interesting. Residents from across town enjoy these events and they spend money in our local economy, and this can happen in a balanced way which causes minimal disturbance to local people.

I’ll be taking this issue further forward with BCP Council this week. I’m keen to hear from people locally, so please do get in touch via the link in the comments on this post 🎵♥️

The Councillor that has made the factually incorrect statement published in the Echo today has been contacted and asked to publicly correct or retract his comment regarding the discontinuation of Hush Club events at Cafe Riva.

Wow 🤯 Just catching up on here after being away at an event all weekend. I cannot put into words how much all of your comments, support and signatures(!) mean to us 🙏🏼.

The Hush Club and Cafe Riva have consistently attempted to work together with the local authorities and residents to operate these community events within the BCP set licensing conditions. I really hope that after your incredible demonstration of how positive, inclusive and appreciated these events are by the vast majority of local residents, we can potentially discuss providing future events that work for everybody, without compromising the ethos of the Hush Club or the community surrounding it.

Thank you so so much for your support. It really means the world. Watch this space🤞🏼

It is with a heavy heart that we are forced to announce this years Airshow event at Cafe Riva will be our last at the site 💔. It has always been our spiritual home, and the magic created there by the local community will live on we hope, but due to a few local residents complaints, the environmental health have deemed The Hush Club and our 2 events per year as an ‘unsuitable act for the venue’. We have loved you sharing your stories from our events… From new born babies to 94 year old disco queens, you have been the most inclusive crowd we’ve ever known, and have been more than generous in raising thousands of pounds for local charity. So please, if you can, join us and the family for ‘The Last Dance’ @ Cafe Riva on August 30/31st. Full deets to follow.

Here it is… The one a lot of you have been waiting for! We return to our spiritual home at Cafe Riva on the 26th + 27th July. This event is in support of Dorset Mind and their work in supporting the increasing number of local community members that struggle with mental health battles. It is to honour and remember those that saw no way out and assure everyone 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐄.

Friday, 'The Hush Club presents' our dear friends Ali and Micky for a Warm Agency takeover. We couldn’t think of any DJs better qualified to calm our minds from all the noise. Perfect post working week sunset vibes guaranteed.

Starting Saturday right, at midday. Join Groove Om Yoga for a free class in how to get loose. Synchronise you mind, body and soul to a sexy disco beat. A limited number of mats will be available to borrow but bring your own if you can. If you’ve never done this before but always fancied a go, now is your moment.

The Hush Club DJs, along with some special guests, will provide your soundtrack for the rest of the day, with an after party at Makla Southbourne taking the committed party people into the night (ticket required – Deets to follow).

As always, we strive to create an inclusive safe space, this event is open to everyone. All we ask is that you 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 and look out for each other.

Just about recovered from last weekends bank holiday fun and it’s time to go again! Thank you to everyone that came down to The Fez on Saturday, I think that may have been my favourite party there to date 👌🏼, packed dancefloor all night long 🔥 massive thanks to Gary Ellis for the impeccable warm up. And to everyone that came down to Riva in the afternoon, even though it was insanely cold! 🥶

This Friday you can catch me playing vinyl only, alongside Chris Wheatley and Nick Shearer at Camden Bar Westbourne 8-1 🍹. Then Saturday we will be at SUBU Summer Ball. Very much looking forward to being back in a field! 🌴
