It's coming up to that time of year where everyman and their dog seems to be selling sweets, whether that be sweet bags, sweet boxes, sweet cones etc for Halloween and Christmas.
We as a Small Business are all for people bettering themselves and supporting other local Small Companies like ours. In times like these where money is tight and some people are out to make a few extra pound's we find ourselves on an almost daily basis seeing people selling sweets on facebook, marketplace etc.
What people don't realise is that it is illegal to sell food of any type including sweets or even providing them with the hire of a sweet cart without being registered with The Food Standards Agency and also the Local Authority. Anyone found to be doing this without being registered can be fined up to £10,000.
Here at Sweet Treatz Hire we are fully registered with North Tyneside Council, The Food Standards Agency with a 5 rating and hold Full Public Liabilty Insurance. We are subject to regular inspection's, have to adhear to strict hygiene and food preperation procedures. There is a lot more to it that just throwing a few sweets in a bag and making them look pretty. We have to consider food allergies, cross contamination, storage conditions, and a whole lot more.
We are not saying don't buy your sweets elsewhere, we are just advising you to make sure that wherever you are buying them from is an actual registered business and not Betty from the Back Lane who bought a pile of sweets from B&M's and made them look pretty by putting them in a bag and sticking a bow on.
