Happy Month! Here are some neologisms for + terms. We have more. One thing to notice is that gecynd can mean and s*x, so we use it a lot. Blis is a new adjective taken from the noun of the same name.

Hand-painted and set under glass or resin, these lovelies are sure to make a statement, and add a little medieval Flair. These are available as either a pin or a pendant, in silver or bronze. Pride flag colors can be painted into the capital letters, or as a background with metallic letters for that

Cut Sleeve Pride: Opening Ceremonies
1-2pm EDT
Welcome to Cut Sleeve Pride, a feast and a celebration of any and all medieval histories that fall outside our modern concepts of 'heteros*xual' and 'cisgender'. To our eyes, these stories, cultural norms, and individuals might be quite 'q***r' indeed – but what did they think of themselves? And why is it so important to learn about them today?
Tune in for up-to-the-minute updates about our schedule, an introduction to your event stewards and mods for the next four days, and – if possible – some words of welcome from Their Royal Majesties Ealdormere.
Lead by: Margret Junc (they/them)
🏳️‍🌈
A brief history of the EK Royal Guild of the Outstretched Hand
2-3pm EDT
This talk and following discussion will be centered around how the guild went from an inception/idea to a royal charter not only within 2 months, but also why the guild was established and why royal charter/recognition means so much to the future of the q***r community in the SCA. My talk will also cover how to establish your own group in the SCA and how you also can apply for a royal charter if you don't already have a chartered group in your Kingdom/principality/barony.
Structure: 15-20 minute presentation, followed by a discussion period
Lead by: Matthew Khan (he/they)
🏳️‍🌈
LGBTQ+ Youth Round Table
4-5pm EDT
Yes you! Whether you want to hang out proudly with the people you already know, or want to find some q***r peers (and perhaps Peers in the making), come on out and discuss whatever you feel is most important. Will you help determine the future of the SCA, swap stories, make a support group on the spot, or something totally different? The floor is yours!
Structure: Facilitated round table
Lead by: Elizabeth Lewis (she/they)
🏳️‍🌈
Finding Bis*xuality
5-5:30pm EDT
Although our current definitions of s*xiality are modern, history shows time and time again that diverse s*xualitieshave always existed. By exploring several historical figures, the host discusses how bis*xuality may have been expressed and how we can find representation in our ancestors.
Structure: 15-20 minute presentation, followed by question period
Lead by: Maerwynn ap Thomas (they/them)
🏳️‍🌈
Ergi, Norse Morals, and Modern Masculinities
6-7pm EDT
How long have 'unmanly' and 'gay' been considered insults in European cultures, and why on earth are the two so often paired? The Norse sagas may give a surprising glimpse into some very modern assumptions – and biases - about the meaning of masculinity in the score of cultures touched by the Viking era.
Structure: 20-30 minute presentation, followed by question period
Content warnings & age restrictions: CW for general discussion of anti-q***r/LGBT+ attitudes/behavior/violence
12+ with adult/guardian present
Lead by: Guoillauc filius Brancu (they/them)
🏳️‍🌈
Sunday, June 27
Pronouns in SCA Period
2-2:30pm EDT
The correctness of they/them as the pronouns to describe a single person is often hotly contested on grammatical vs. political grounds. Let's hear about the broader historical context of pronouns in the English language - from an English major!
Structure: 15-minute presentation, followed by discussion period
Lead by: THL Emer nic Aidan (she/her)
🏳️‍🌈
Empress of Rome:
A trans-q***r retelling of Elagabalus' reign
2:30-3:30pm EDT
Elagabalus is one of the most thoroughly reviled (and simultaneously ignored) of late Roman rulers – surpassing even Tiberius, Nero, and Caligula. What has drawn such ire from generations of historians... and why does a small undercurrent believe that Elagabalus was simply misunderstood?
Structure: 1-hour class
Lead by: Rubeus le Blont (he/him)
🏳️‍🌈
Bigger, Gayer Ealdormerean Bardic!
6:00-9:00pm EDT
(or whenever the bards run out of drinks)
The Big Gay Ealdormerean Bardic Circle is where it all began! Raise your voices and instruments in song, story, poetry, and any other kind of performance that celebrates and recognizes the kaleidoscope of LGBTQ2S+ experiences throughout time and space. We had over 20 different performers from at least 4 kingdoms last year, and we've had a year to unearth even more q***r content – how much bigger and gayer can we get??
Structure: Facilitated bardic circle
Lead by: Guoillauc filius Brancu (they/them), Margret Junc (they/them), & THL Dietrich von Sachsen (he/him)

Q***r Identity in Late Period Mesoamerica: Separating Fact From Fiction
9:00-10:30 PM
Amongst the many misunderstood topics and aspects of culture in Period Mesoamerica, q***r identity and attitudes may be one of the most overlooked areas of study. Besides the obvious issues involving biases from the European viewpoints in documentation, a major complication is the diversity of cultures in the region and how varied opinions and attitudes towards LGBT+ identity could have been in general. In this discussion, we will be sorting through historical accounts and resources to try and discern the complexities of q***r identity in Mesoamerica and what they MIGHT have looked like amongst the MANY cultures in the region.
Structure: 1.5-hour class
Content warnings & age restrictions: CW for anti-q***r/LGBT+ attitudes/behavior/violence (I will NOT go into details, but I will be bringing it up). 12+ with adult/guardian consent
