I am a Professional Game Master, focusing on 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). I currently run weekly games for my customers online using Discord and Roll20, using a combination of pre-written campaigns produced by Dungeons & Dragons, third-party content, and content I have created. I am also expanding into in-person gaming (once we are in covid alert level 1 or lower). This will range from
events and one-off games for children, workplace team-building games, and long running games for adults. My role as a Professional Game Master includes:
- Providing content and resources to run games of D&D.
- Providing a thorough knowledge of game rules and pragmatic application of the rules to provide a fun but fair experience.
- In terms of online games, ensure that individual players are matched and teamed up with similar minded players to maximise their enjoyment and minimise any potential conflict or disruptions.
- Provide an environment where players feel encouraged to play and have fun without judgement. Going forward, I have the follwing goals:
- Run a streamed game of D&D which is setup and run to be friendly to those who may be unfamilar with D&D and still entertain those who are knowledgable about D&D.
- Maintain and grow my existing D&D knowledge, including learning new modules as they are released, staying up-to-date with the latest rule set, and using 3rd-party resources to expand content available.
- Learn other gaming systems to provide other options to those who dislike or want a change from D&D. Other systems I am looking into include: Vampire the Masquerade, Call of Cthulhu, Cyberpunk, and a variety of other games.
