As the weather warms in Washington, we’re excited for more outdoor weddings – an easy way to help make your venue choice more sustainable! Not only do outdoor events avoid the energy-intensive aspects of heating/cooling and lighting a room, but they also help cut down on decor needs since nature can provide the loveliest backdrops. No need for drapery, uplighting, or commissioning single-use signs and wall displays!

Since the beginning, Emerald Hour has focused on wedding vendors, feeling that we could make the greatest impact as the ones who help guide couples as they plan their celebration.

However, we believe it’s just as important to educate couples about the environmental impacts of weddings and empower them to make sustainable choices.

So, we’ve created the “Green Swaps Guide for Couples” which outlines simple ways that couples can play a vital role in reducing the environmental harm caused by weddings and other events.

The first part of the guide features Top No-Cost or Low-Cost Green Swaps such as prioritizing meat-free options in your wedding menu, using dried flower petals for your exit instead of confetti, sparklers, or glow sticks, and foregoing gifty trinkets and favors.

Check out the guide at the link in our bio to learn more!

Together, we truly can make an important difference in creating greener weddings!

Join us today at 12 PM!

In honor of Earth Day, we’re hosting Washington Conservation Action for a virtual presentation on current environmental challenges and advocacy priorities in our region and how we, as individuals, can take action.

We’ll also learn more about the important work of WCA as the leading policy and political voice in Washington’s environmental community, mobilizing for conservation and environmental justice.

While Emerald Hour is about inspiring sustainable weddings and businesses, we believe it’s equally important to understand what’s happening in our region and how we can make a difference.

This event is open to anyone who is looking to expand their knowledge of the environmental movement in our region! Just DM us for the link to join the workshop.

Hey! Would you like to get away from your computer screen and spend some time in the forest?

Do you like the feeling of building community with other people who are passionate about the environment?

Do you want to DO something to really help the Earth this Earth Day?

Well, we’ve got an exciting opportunity for you to volunteer with the Great Peninsula Conservancy on Saturday, April 20 from 10:00-12:30!

Emerald Hour members (and friends!) are invited to join a work party to build habitat piles inside Grover’s Creek Preserve near Kingston. The preserve is home to 200 year old trees, over 60 species of birds, critical habitat for steelhead, and it needs our help.

We’ll gather for pastries and coffee at Kingston House before we carpool to the work site and then we’ll enjoy lunch together back at Kingston House afterwards!

Please DM us here to RSVP and we’ll send you more info.
