What if I don't like cows? What else can I do to make money? There are many ways to make a few credits. There is a bounty on space monkeys. If you find them out on your travels, collect them and turn them in for credits. Even though you do not like cows. cattle rustling may bring the unscrupulous soul a credit or two. Wild field cattle bring better prices than farm ones. Just remember rustling will also get you in trouble with the sheriff. Ask at businesses, owners are always looking for jobs to be filled, items to be found, or dirty deeds to be done. You can run a business. Simply bring a tent or some other kind of structure if needed (there may be space for rent but don't count on this). You can set up an office for personal protection services or mercenary work, sell goods, or offer any number of services. The only thing we ask is that you accept in game currency (exclusively for services, and at least partially for goods. Be creative!

After a long and illustrious career of law enforcement in several areas of the 'verse, Eli Wraith settled in Port Venture. Hoping that the small town would be a quiet place to settle for a spell, he is determined to keep peace and order. Sheriff Wraith does not tolerate any shenanigan's in his town, so if you are of a mind to cause trouble you would be best advise to stay clear of his watchful eye.

What if I don't have a business or I don't want to be part of a mercenary group, what else is there to do? One can be a rancher. If you are interested in raising livestock (cattle or sheep), Port Authority will have critters for sale. Take them home and care for them. After a certain amount of time the livestock can be brought back in and at the roll of a dice you will find out if you will make a tidy profit or a loss. Be sure to keep an eye on your cattle, because they can be stolen (rustled) and turned in by another player. Are you wondering what to do for food and sleeping on a two day event? Let us help you out. Dave at Apocalypse Paintball puts on a free spaghetti dinner both days. All other meals are the responsibility of the participants. There is a large Love's Truck Stop literally right across the road. It is a great place to get all the little things you had forgotten and snacks, never enough snacks. There is also a Hardees attached to the truck stop. There is a McDonald's and Subway on the other side of Hwy 94 a very short distance away. One may also bring food along with a grill and cook your own food all weekend. Town businesses do have some items to purchase with Port Venture currency. If you are the adventurous sort, you are welcome to camp right at the event site for free. There are port-a-potties near the office.
Bonfires and fire pits are not allowed on site, but grills are allowed.
If you are not feeling quite that adventurous there are a few hotels near the event. Join the adventure!

After a lucrative turn at being sheriff, Josiah "Jessie" Knight decided now is the perfect time to get into politics. Josiah Knight was born on Persephone to Jebidiah Knight, a middle class intranet news broadcaster, and Maize Lock, a retired Alliance pilot. A genial child, Josiah grew up in fine order, and upon graduating with a degree in Spaceflight Engineering from the Persephone College of Learning Institute. After a year of engineering, he wanted more from life and so joined the Alliance ground forces for a brief stint. Afterwards, Jessie looked for adventure and found himself in many whirlwind romances, daring escapes, and profitable ventures, he took up a brief stint as the sherif of Danton having known Fancy Dan from a previous time. Now as the duly elected mayor of Port Venture, he looks forward to welcoming the Alliance railroad and bringing prosperity to the sleepy community.

If you are out and about and you find yourself in the town of Danton, you may want to stop in at the Dead Man's Hand Saloon for a bit of refreshment and local news. The owner, Fancy Dan, is also the mayor of this enterprising little town. He runs a no nonsense establishment and keeps a close eye on the Alliance. He is always looking for those who are interested in earning some credits.

Exciting news: Stellarani Bellydance has a layover on June 8-9 and will performing in Port Venture and Danton. They are a versatile improvisational bellydance troupe that performs at renaissance faires and events throughout the Universe. They showcase many styles of bellydance and props, like swords, poi, baskets, zils, drums, fans, veils, and more. “Stella,” or star, and “rani,” or joyful dancing, describe the group perfectly – their love for the dance comes shining through their performances like stars! Make sure you catch one of their performances when you are in town.

Port Venture is not the only town on Sakura that one can call home. A short distance away is Danton. If you are not finding your fortune at Port Venture, Fancy Dan at the Dead Man's Hand in Danton may be able to help you out.

Pre- reg tickets are now available for Port Venture Weekend June 8-9 on Ticketbud. With pre- reg, participants will receive 100 credits per person , 500 credits and a small ship for 4 person group, 1000 credits and a larger ship for 8 person group. Plus every pre reg person will get 1 free get well card to use in the event that they are killed or horribly wounded. On day of event, cash is the preferred method of payment at door and participants will receive 50 credits.
