One of my clients recently got scammed by a vendor who took their money, lied and ghosted. Itโs heartbreakingโand honestly, itโs not their fault. Most vendors are amazing, but unfortunately, bad business *does* exist. ๐ Here are some tips to help protect you and make the planning process smoother:

Yes, itโs totally okay to be a little nosy! Check out their social media, dive into reviews, and donโt be afraid to ask for a portfolio or referrals. If something feels off or thereโs a lack of real feedback, trust your gut. A strong online presence and client reviews can give you peace of mind. But donโt stop thereโschedule an in-person or Zoom meeting to really get a feel for your vendor. Trust is key, and sometimes you just need a face-to-face (or screen-to-screen!) conversation to know if theyโre the right fit.

Contracts can be full of legal talk, but theyโre SO important. Make sure youโre clear on whatโs included, whatโs not, and what happens if things change. Cancellation policies and refundable deposits? Pay close attention to those, too. Itโs all about protecting your investment!

Your vendor team only wants the best for you. We work with vendors we trust, know well, and have experience with. So if we recommend someone, itโs because weโve seen them deliver time and time again. You can trust that theyโll bring their A-game for your big day!
At the end of the day, itโs your first time (and hopefully only time!) planning a weddingโso donโt feel bad if you donโt know all the ins and outs. Thatโs why weโre here to help! Most businesses are incredible, but always do your research and make sure youโre working with the best.๐
