Back in 1913, the citizens of Prescott were thrilled about the approval of a new federal building and post office in the Plaza district. This would be the first US government-built post office in Prescott, possibly in Yavapai County. However, the project faced numerous delays and economic hurdles, leaving the site at 101 West Goodwin Street an empty lot for nearly 18 years.
Finally, in 1930, Robert E. McKee of El Paso, Texas, won the construction bid. Despite initial hopes for local materials, Indiana limestone and Minnesota granite were used. Construction progressed rapidly, with a cornerstone ceremony on February 22, 1931, attended by 2,000 people.
On November 16, 1931, the post office opened its doors, transforming the southeast corner of the Plaza into a bustling hub. The citizens of Prescott were proud of their new post office, a dignified addition reflecting the grandeur of a big city.
Today, this meticulously restored 1931 Beaux-Arts building continues to serve the community, embodying the rich history and resilient spirit of Prescott, and is the proud home of The Federal Venue. 🌟

🎤 Meet The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers! 🎤
Starting as a collective of friends in 2010, The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers have evolved into a powerful band of 5, embracing the richness of early 20th-century gospel recordings. Influenced by legends like The Dixie Hummingbirds and modern bands such as The Black Keys, they create a unique blend of rhythm and blues, alt-country, indie rock, and folk.
Their debut album, "Heavenly Fire" (2015), was a rousing celebration of traditional Americana, leading to successful North American tours and high-profile festival appearances at Winnipeg Folk Fest, Montreal Jazz Fest, Austin City Limits, and Voodoo Fest of New Orleans. They've also enjoyed song placements on MTV, Showtime, Amazon, and Discovery Channel.
Their sophomore album, "No Glory", saw a return to their gospel roots, mixing rockers with a ca****la numbers. During the pandemic, they released "I Will Rise", a Gothic/Apocalyptic Americana Gospel album. Check out their newest single "The Breaking"!

Camilla Ross is an award winning, produce, director, playwright, actor and president of the company Emerson Theater Collaborative currently living in Sedona. Camilla is on a quest to create ART from a performers’ perspective and support playwrights whose vision is to change the world by telling a story. Moments…of Acknowledgment and Forgiveness is an afternoon of poetry, ‘Fatherless Child’ and more from Last Poet Dahveed Nelson; a staged reading of “Harriet Tubman’s Dream” written by Lisa A.
