“She wore flowers in her hair and carried magic secrets in here eyes.” ~Arundhati Roy

🥰 We have some extra special things in store for Mother’s Day!

‘Whimsical Arrangements’ are available for delivery on Friday. You can choose a ‘Celfie’ Vase (pictured here) or a Regular White Ceramic vase. They’ll open up beautifully for Mother’s Day🥰

And of course, we’ll have all of our regular Friday offerings as well!

And then on Saturday, we’ll be hanging out with our pals at @ from 11–3 with wrapped bouquets of all sizes to gift the mamas in your life!💐🥳

I adore these vases with their touch of whimsy. They made me think of all the amazing mamas out there and the magic they hold. Mother’s Day is our opportunity to do something a little extra special for the mamas in our lives to say THANK YOU for all they do!

And moms: You treat yourself, OK?! Whatever that means to you . . . YOU are worth it✨️

This tulip got a lot of love in peoples’ stories yesterday, so I thought I’d talk a little more about her (or him?🤔), and give her a perma spot on the ol’ grid.

This tulip is ‘Salmon Van Eijk’ and there’s something about her name that makes me wonder if she’s a he, but she feels like a she, just with a he name, but you don’t want to offend anyone these days, so I better listen closer next time we’re together😅

‘Salmon Van Eijk’ is a Darwin tulip and while she starts out a more-vibrant pinky, she fades into an exquisite dusty rose. While I love me a double tulip, I dono, there is just something about a classic beauty that’s totally the vibe💁🏼‍♀️, what do you think?!

Local frands, just a reminder to get you some flowers by 5:00ish tonight and I will bring them to you or your pick-up location of choice tomorrow, FriYAY!

Just like that, it’s May and we’re in the thick of tulip season, and I honestly have no idea how we even got here🌷😅

What are you up to on the first day of May?!

If you want pretty flowers this week, order by 5ish on Thursday for delivery or pickup on Friday.

Oh! And if you couldn’t tell from this photo, I needed a new color to the Choose Your Palette bouquets: Pretty in pink🌷🌷🌷💕🩷🎀

So many flowers, so little time to capture them😅 Currently trying to ignore that panicky feeling that I have not captured enough or done enough this season.

This is just a fraction of the dahlia harvests coming out of the field right now. It makes my heart so happy, I don’t want it to come to an end. This image captures what I had in my mind’s eye when we started this dream. What my naive flower math did not account for at that time was the amount of work required, but for us it’s been as they say: dreams only work when you do.

They're a labor of love, heavy on the labor but extra heavy on the love😉

One of the most amusing dichotomies of social media:

Person: "Social media is [insert negative language]🙄."

Same person, at the end of the conversation: "You can follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat at ✌🏼🫶🏼💁🏼‍♀️"

🤣 We've all been there.

Pictured: KA's Boho Peach, which is new to me and I mean, can you even? Most of the pictures I've seen showed her more bright pink. I actually prefer this softer color (weird, I know) and Boho Peach is a perfect name, but asking for a friend: Do you grow her? Is this a normal color? Pic 2 is same variety, different flower on the plant.

Update: both plants had more flowers last night and they were all a range of tones. Brighter pink to one that was a unique buff color. Anyway, I’m smitten💕 I would have taken more photos, but we rode our bikes and I’m still on the fence if riding my bike with my DSLR is a good life choice for me😂

They're just so ruffly and purply😊

Lisianthus are kinda like cocktails around here, you're always welcome to more than one😉

In fact, they're BOGO 20% off😁 and you got about an hour left to get your order in.

I've been off the sauce all week, but I dono, this heat🥵 got me thinking a glass of rosé on the deck sounds good. Or bubbly. Or should I just have both?😬

I've been wanting to tell you for weeks . . . .

The lisianthus are back, and we're kind of obsessing🤩 Swipe to see who is currently blooming in the field👉🏼 and tell me who is your favorite?!

I didn't say anything because I've been hoarding them for a few weddings and events and our repeat customers (we see you, we appreciate you, and can I say that we love you??)

OK, let's talk varieties:

Pics 2–4: Roseanne Light Brown and I cannot even with these colors, can you?

Pics 5–8: Echo Lavender which is just thee most perfect soft lavender, some even having this anitquey-smokey vibe (pic 6). A few made their way into some mason jar arrangements this week, and I cannot wait to see this one in full bloom.

Pics 1 and 7: Sabrina Orange, these photos were taken in 2021. I wasn't able to snag her from last year, but she is BACK this year and on her way. I'm so excited to see my friends again😉

A look back at an arrangement from this spring . . . entirely sourced from our little farm in Wisconsin✨.

Finally edited after we snuck away to Matt's family's cabin this past weekend.

I make so many mistakes . . . as a grower, as a "designer" (do not feel I can claim that title but it was less wordy than saying "as someone who tries really hard at arranging flowers"🫣), but I'm pretty proud of this one🥰 .

P.S., I enjoy sourcing flowers and talents from other growers and farms (and as a small operation, we will for larger weddings/events), but it's fun to arrange with 100% of what you grow when you can.

🙋🏼‍♀️What snapdragons are you growing?

I've gotten this question a lot, so I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorites over the next week or so.

First up is 'Costa Silver' and I honestly could not imagine a season without this beauty! She has the fluffiest blush blooms on super-strong stems that have the sweetest bubblegum fragrance. She's great for wedding work but also fills out a market bouquet. An absolutely must grow💕

Do you love Costa Silver as much as me?!

Sundays are for the roses💕🌸🥂

Thought this one deserved a permanent spot on the ol' grid, but also because it was back before I was waging a losing battle with japanese beetles🪲🤬

I tried to companion plant garlic to deter them 🧄 but they don't seem to mind the garlic even a little 🙄

Please send help🥴 Or whiskey.

🌿Hells bells, we are picking Bells of Ireland!🌿

🙋🏼‍♀️Have you ever smelled Bells of Ireland? Curious how you would describe it?

I loooove it, but the fragrance is hard to verbalize . . . sweet apple mint? Someone once described it as lime green skittles, which I mean, would pair well with candy-scented snapdragons😂

And if you've never experienced it, let's get you some!

They will be in this week's flowers, along with lush peonies, bubblegum-scented snapdragons, fragrant stock, sweet feverfew, and more

🙋🏼‍♀️Where my fellow mismatched garden glove folks at?💖💜😆 (more on that below)

Local frands, we are snippin' snaps over here, so if you love these bubblegum scented beauties as much as me, I'd love to snip some for youuuu. They'll be in all the mixed flowers this week (along with peonies, yarrow, stock, feverfew, bells of ireland, and more!)

🙋🏼‍♀️OK, despite the fact that I have an enormous amount of these garden gloves, I could NOT find two pink ones when I took this picture . . . .

So I was going to make lemonade and write a parody post about "normalizing" mismatched garden gloves and rant about how I'm *so over* seeing "curated" garden gloves on the gram🙄

But then I thought no one would get that it was a joke and if there's one thing I know, it's that I'm not here to tell anyone what we should normalize, bc there ain't nothing normal about social media, folks😆🫣

Would you have gotten it?

🌿Whew! We are cuttin' feverFEW!🌿

Though, honestly, I'm considering just moving into the patch and living here for, I dono, ever?

Reminder to my local folks to get your order in by 5:00pm tonight if you want some of these whimsical, wispy blooms.

Feverfew is one of my all-time favorite flowers. Aesthetically, it has this soft, vintage vibe🤍.

But many of you know that much of what I grow is multi-purpose and the flowers I choose are for their energetics just as much as their beauty.

I find that feverfew instantly lifts my mood. And it appears that I'm not alone, as in symbolism, it's said to mean, "you light up my life."

I know some are not fond of the scent, but I'm really drawn to it's herbal fragrance. It also has a long history of use in herbalism. From the @ Herbarium:

Given the popular focus of the last half-century, it is easy to pigeonhole feverfew as “the migraine herb.” Despite an otherwise quieter presence in contemporary practice, the spectrum of feverfew’s many applications—showcased by its multi-faceted history, in which it was once a primary ally for women’s reproductive wellbeing, a key balancer of the nervous and digestive systems, a reliever of pain and the discomfort of infections, an aid for respiratory difficulty, and a useful repellent—leaves the door open to new discoveries.

What are your thoughts on feverfew? Love it or list it?

Pal, we have peonies and peonies oh my!

I was thinking of keeping them all for myself but then Matt said we wouldn't be a flower farm, we'd just be growing really expensive plants for me to take photos of, and I'm not really sure what the problem is with that, but I guess it means that we're sharing our peonies🤷🏼‍♀️.

I did sneak these 5 out of the cooler tho😬

Now offering peonies by the bunch (5 stems) but they will also be in all the other flower offerings this week (mason jars, market bouquets, vase arrangements).

Yup, I made quite a few shop updates.

Also, if you're there and notice typos or errors please save me the embarrassment and let me know (one-woman show when it comes to the website🙋🏼‍♀️). If I say something embarrassing though, that's just me being little ol' me, can't usually control all that, but I definitely want to fix typos and errors, like the time I said fury foes instead of furry foes (though my foes are definitely both). This feels like a good time to stop typing.

🙋🏼‍♀️Serious question:

Is nature the best or is nature the best?

I was feeling sad about ranunculus slowing down . . . for about 30 seconds . . . because then I remembered it was peony season🥰

Reminder to order flowers by 5:00pm this evening for pickup or delivery tomorrow. All the deets are on our website. Flowers will be a collision of when peonies overlap the end of tulip/ranunculus season (oh and anemones and maybe even some roses and poppies, ahem, oh my).

A few of the mason jar deliveries from last week🥰 (more on these photos below).

They're different every week, but they're always hand-grown, hand-selected, hand-cut, and full of sunshine☀️.

Order by noon Thursday for Friday pickup or delivery.

OK, back to the photos. I *rarely* take photos on delivery days, but when I do, the process is a bit comical, because it goes like this:

Scene: Our pole barn has a little "studio" (aka, a shop area with rough walls, mismatched cabinets we got for free, and floral bits and bobs everywhere . . . but it means the world to me bc Matt built it and I used to design flowers at our dining room table🥲). It has 3 doors: One to a walk-in cooler that he also built (total game changer). Two to the outside where we park the car to load for deliveries. Three to the pole barn, where we keep farming equipment but also where I take photos because the lighting is better.

In the morning, I take out all flowers from the cooler that are being delivered that day and set them on a counter by door 2, where Matt starts loading them into the car. I then take some out of the car and into the pole barn to take photos. Then, I go through door 3 back into shop and set them back on the same counter by door 2. Matt puts them back into the car🤣 🏃🏼‍♀️🌸🏃🏻🚗🏃🏼‍♀️📸🌸🏃🏻🚗

First rose varieties of the season?

1. Crown Princess Margareta (high tunnel, pics 1–4 )

And I cannot even🫠 . . . I kind of want to . . . live in them? They're thorny, sure, but I think it would be worth it😆

Trust me when I say that I have many failures as a grower, but these beauties are a humble win and such a delight.

Although I've kind of resisted it, I've become such a sucker for roses. They are just so romantically swoonworthy, and my gah, the fragrance.

I'm still learning how to best harvest them for vase life (🙋🏼‍♀️got any tips for cutting or storage, please let me know🙏🏼).

I don't grow roses in volume (yet😬). So for now, I reserve them for special events/arrangements, but if we don't have those going on, you might just end up with one in your mason jar . . . just sayin😉

🙋🏼‍♀️Anyone else like how the actual bleep is it June?

Also, if you could kindly ask Mother Nature to bring the degrees down from scorching hot to just like mildly uncomfortable, the ranunculus and I would greatly appreciate it😅🥴

Reminder to my local pals to get your flower orders in by 5:00pm . . . and considering it's always 5:00 somewhere . . . 🤔🍾🤭

"This too shall pass"

Something my Great Grandma Marge would say that has always provided me with a great deal of comfort in difficult times.

But it also carries with it a bittersweet truth.

I know harvests like these are numbered, and that they too shall pass, but that's also what makes them so special . . .

And on their setting sun are exciting things to come💕

Is there a a saying or idea inherited from a loved one that has stuck with you?

Zone 4 WI is not exactly known for growing great roses, but I'm a stubborn son of a biscuit😅

I am over the moon to report that our first-year roses made it through the winter and are coming along well so far in their second season🤞🏼😅🙏🏼.

Last year, I got a lot of questions about which roses I recommended, but being it was their first year, I didn't feel like I could really make any recommendations.

Being a newer rose grower, I still don't know that I can make solid recommendations for our climate, but I thought I'd share the roses that made it through last winter and are looking pretty gol' dang good so far this spring.
