As women we tend to me critical of ourselves. My best advice is to let go of the parts of your body you don't like and embrace them. A style or dress or a certain customization may be the small tweak needed to not see that for you. I can almost guarantee no one else sees it, but you must feel confident and comfortable in your beautiful wedding dress. Be kind to yourself and love on yourself. You are beautiful just the way you are. You are loved by many. Love on yourself too! XOXO

Wedding Dress Budget! KNOW IT!

Money can be a sensitive, maybe even, tough conversation. Some of the best advise I could ever give is KNOW YOUR BUDGET BEFORE GOING SHOPPING! Have the discussion with whomever is paying. Even if it is you, decide what you want and can pay if you find that perfect dress. Everyone has a budget or break point. Know what it is so, 1. you don't go over that in trying on dresses, 2. expectations are set and no disappointment and 3. no pressure, worries, or unknowns.

Plus, when looking for that perfect store to shop at, make sure they have enough dresses and choices in that price range. You don't want to go to a store that starts at your maximum price point. You don't want to go to a store that has only a few. Go to a place where at least 50% or more is available.

Average national US price range for wedding dresses by several sources including the Knot and WeddingWire is approximately $1450. You may be higher or lower, but know your budget and your stores range.

Do I pick the veil when I say yes to the dress or later?

Great questions and can often be based on your time line, your decision making process, and the time left in your appointment.

It is always great to try them on with your dress to get the overall picture. If you love it, get it. '

If you have just made too many decisions and your are happy, but exhausted, wait if you have time. Come back another day, or get it when you pick up the dress months later. Make sure you know time frames on delivery though.

If you choose a different color than the one you have on, it can be beneficial to wait to see how a veil will look with the different color. It will make a difference.

Don't delay, but don't stress. If you feel great and feel it in your gut, it's going to be amazing. If you just can't think anymore, come back another day when you can relax and be fully present. You got this! Do you!

When to start shopping for your dress has come up a lot lately. With engagement season in full bloom right now, the excitement in the air, when to go dress shopping?

Designers all have different time frames so if you are under a year for your wedding, check your favorite store to go to and make sure they have all or a majority of their dresses that can be ordered in time. I tend to see average is 5 to 6 months, but some can go up to 9 or 10 months. Sometimes there are options for under 5 with rush shipping, stock inventory, or off the rack dresses at the store.

12 to 15 months is usually a great time. Earlier is OK too! Right now, if you are a 2023 bride, it is absolutely time. It is very reasonable for anyone up to July of 2024. Any planners out there, it's never too soon and to the end of 2024 is perfect timing!!

You may ask why so early? Because not only does it have to be made for you, but time to get shipped and go through customs (most dresses are made overseas), get to the designer, then to the store, then to you. It takes some time for all these transportation and logistics to work out.

Then you need 2 to 3 months prior for several alteration appointments.

Hope this helps your planning process a little. Remember....just breathe, try to shop in a timely manner, and have fun!

When do you start alterations?

2 to 3 months prior to your wedding date ideally. It's ideal to have your last fitting 1 week prior to the wedding to make sure all is perfect and steamed out.

How many fittings? Normally you have 3, maybe 4 fittings. What do you need to bring? Your actual shoes and any undergarments you plan to wear that day, i.e., spanks. A great time to try out your veil, jewelry and headpieces while you have your dress on and fitting you well!

When do you get on a seamstresses book? Sooner is better than later. 6 months to a year (f you are the most popular months) in advanced.

Trying on veils when in your top one or two dresses is always so much fun. It really gives a great idea of how you will look and feel walking down the aisle. Here are some different lengths to consider. Many times it depends on the dress and you, what you love best.
Shorter, fingertip ones are always great. As you go longer, a little more drama and romance can start happening. A little more weight comes with this too. Try them on and see what you love.

Know your budget! This is so important before walking in the door. Have this discussion with whomever is paying or helping pay for the dress. Even if it is you. Discuss it with yourself, your fiance, your wedding budget! Get the money concerns out of the way before arriving and reduce your stress. Talking about it or trying to make decisions in the moment leads to anxiety, stress, fear, and worry.
