Caravaggio and Artemisia: the challenge of Judith. Violence and seduction in 16th and 17th century painting - available until Sunday 27th of March 2022

The exhibition celebrates the fifty years since the acquisition by the Italian State and the seventies since the discovery of the famous painting by Caravaggio Giuditta beheading Holofernes.

The painting, created in Rome at the beginning of the Seventeenth Century, is kept in Palazzo Barberini.

A series of masterpieces from all over the world, including the beautiful Judith and Holofernes by Artemisia Gentileschi, document the overwhelming novelty triggered by Caravaggio’s work in contemporary painting.

The Nutcracker - ballet now available until Sunday 2 January 2022 🩰🎄🎟

The inaugurates the 2021-22 ballet season with The Nutcracker, the Christmas ballet par excellence.

The famous show, to music by Tchaikovsky, is conducted by maestro Nir Kabaretti with the Rome Opera House Orchestra.

In 2015, Giuliano Peparini reinterpreted it in a new choreographic and contemporary key created for the Corps de Ballet of the Capitoline Opera, directed by Eleonora Abbagnato. He designed the show so that it could speak directly to all generations but in particular to teenagers.

In the ballet in two acts, based on the story by E.T.A. Hoffmann, the Roman choreographer and director brings his vision of society to the stage and gives us a daydream, a metaphor of reality made up of special effects and awesome videos, plays of light and magical illusions created by a team of excellent professionals: Lucia D'Angelo and Cristina Querzola (sets), Frédéric Olivier (costumes), Edmondo Angelelli (video), Jean-Michel Désiré (lights).

The Auditorium Parco della Musica hosts the engaging Christmas appointment with the vibrant and enthralling music of the most important European gospel festival, organized by the Musica per Roma Foundation and the International Music Foundation.

The event, directed by Mario Ciampà, was born in 1985 with the title Let the God's Saints Come In and is celebrating its 26th edition this year. On stage, to make you swing, sing, dance or clap your hands, are performing some of the best spiritual and gospel groups from the United States: Eric Waddell & The Abundant, one of Baltimore's leading groups; The Harlem Gospel Choir, America's most famous and oldest gospel choir; Light of Love, a female group with a modern and electrifying sound; the brilliant Dennis Reed with his group GAP; Emmanuel Djob by the Gospel River, amazing European soul/gospel voice revelation and winner of the French edition of The Voice.

Amazônia: Sebastião Salgado at MAXXI in Rome

MAXXI takes visitors on a dramatic audio-visual journey into the heart of the Amazon in an exhibition running from 1 October until 13 February 2022.

The celebrated photojournalist Sebastião Salgado provides a black and white photographic journey through the Brazilian Amazon, after he spent seven years capturing images of the forest, the rivers, the mountains and the people who live there.

As Halloween draws near, takes a closer look at the spookiest places in Rome to set the tone for the ghoulish holiday 🎃💀👻

Today’s pick: Capuchin Crypt

The Museum and Crypt of the Capuchins is one of the eeriest sights in Rome. Comprised of a variety of chambers that house the bones of over 4,000 Capuchin monks that have been rethought into creative decorations: chandeliers are made up of arms and leg bones, skulls make up ornamental features.

The bones are believed to have belonged to friars that lived between 1528 and 1870. The Order of Capuchin Friars is an offshoot of the Franciscans and value a primitive and solitary way of life. Certainly one of the oddities of Rome, this crypt is not meant to be a macabre sight but rather a testament to the transience of life.

On Wednesday 20th October 2021, the grand opening of Riyadh Season 2021, the Middle East’s largest ever entertainment event, kicked off with an impressive parade - staged by with participation of international performers in unique costumes and dazzling shows featuring over 2,760 drones that made the colorful opening ceremony an incredible and mesmerizing experience for a record number of more than 750,000 spectators while millions followed it through live broadcasts.

Rome Film Fest 2021

The sixteenth edition of the Rome Film Fest will take place starting today, October 14, to October 24 2021 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica and in other places in the capital.

The structure designed by Renzo Piano will be the fulcrum of the event and will host screenings, meetings, events, exhibitions, installations, conferences and debates.

The 1300 square meters of the avenue leading to the Cavea will be transformed into one of the largest red carpets in the world. In addition to the films from the Official Selection and “Everyone’s Talking About”, an important role will also be played this year by Close Encounters with authors, actors and protagonists of Italian and international culture, Retrospectives, Restorations and Gifts.

Inferno by Jean Clair - the new exhibition at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome - from 15th October 2021 to 9th of January 2022 🎟🖼😈

Rome will mark 700 years of Dante’s death with the first major exhibition dedicated to Dante's Inferno.

Following the success of the Raphael 500 exhibition, the Scuderie del Quirinale returns with a new show marking another important milestone: the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri.

Inferno will document a wide range of hell-related iconography, from the Middle Ages to the present day, in what is hailed as the first major art exhibition dedicated to this theme.

In Italy starting from today, Friday 6th August 2021, the COVID-19 green certificate facilitates attendance at certain public events (such as trade fairs, concerts, sports competitions, parties following religious or civil ceremonies) and access to health care facilities for the elderly (RSA).

It is also mandatory when moving into and out of areas that may be classified as "red" or "orange" zones in the absence of valid reasons for work, health or proven urgency.

As of 6 August 2021, everyone over the age of 12 must present a COVID-19 digital green certificate to access certain services and activities:

Restaurants, bars, ice cream parlours and pastry shops, for consumption at table indoors
Performances open to the public, sporting events, both outdoors and indoors, museums and places of culture, shows
Swimming pools and gyms
Private parties, such as wedding receptions,
Festivals and trade fairs;
Conventions and congresses
Spas and fitness centres
Gaming halls and betting shops, bingo halls and casinos

Access to these services and activities is allowed on presenting the EU Digital COVID Certificate or an equivalent certificate issued by the health authorities of Canada, Japan, Israel, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The Forum of Augustus - a new journey through the history of Ancient Rome 🏛🎟🇮🇹
