Tomorrow at Platform there will be exhibited works by a young photographer from Nijmegen, who makes her debut with an innovative photo series; Amsterdam by night. With these analogue photos Isabel van Berkum perfectly captures the raw fringes of the Amsterdam nightlife. Isabel van Berkum is an upcoming name in the world of photography and at the age of nineteen, she has already shot for people like Bokoesam and Jonna Fraser.

Originally from Chengdu China, studied in Art academy Minerva Groningen. Now studying master programme of Lens based media in Piet Zwart institute.

He is used to work on the abstraction of body movement though digital art, and trying to make an interaction between space and body movement. He sees animation and 3d programme as a sort of extension of limited body, trying to deconstruct the universal perceptions of how we treat with social structure, and rebuild our individual sensation.

On opening duties next Sunday at Platform at the Hostel Room starting @ 17.00u. let us introduce to you:

Carlos arrived in Rotterdam in October 2017. After spending most weekends in former club BAR, he started to develop an interest for dance music and the current club scene in South Holland. For the past year he has been creating his project Every day is Friday which he aims to turn into a platform for night culture in Rotterdam. On Sunday Carlos will be playing his favorite selection of 70s beats and Italo disco.

Joining forces for our upcoming edition of Platform at the Hostel Room are Marco Duits and DJ Johanna Mercker! We are very happy that they have agreed to close to evening for us with a 2 hour B2B set!

We are happy to announce our return to the Hostel Room on the 15th of December, catch us and many participating artists there from 17.00u. till 23.00!

If you are wondering about some of the artworks on display today, let us introduce to you:

Tim Schaap is a Dutch self taught artist born in Schiedam. Tim has always been busy creating.

At the age of fifteen Tim started with fineliner illustrations. At this point he started to create more work on a serious level.

At the age of seventeen he started his own clothing brand, Defekt Skate Co, which is now called Defekt Company. Defekt started as a skate influenced clothing brand, but grew out to something more than a clothing brand. Right now Tim is working on multiple projects regarding Defekt.

This exhibition showcases two early works of Tim his fineliner illustrations and one more recent work made in 2018.

His and other artists works will be on display during Platform at the Hostel Room, come check them and our other performing artists out today from 17.00u.

As our third and final dj we are happy to present you Oskar Jordan, known mostly for his work under his alter ego Xtal playing deep, dark and progressive psychedelic trance and tekno at free raves and clubs.

However for this edition of Platform at the Hostel Room he will turn down the bpm and present us with his newest minimal house set with a rather more groovy and smooth feel underscored with his signature trippy spice.

Graphic design duo Glitterstudio also started operating as a DJ duo, with a love for prosecco, which was also the name of their biggest playlist, they only play mousserende pokkoes.

Introducing Marco Duits:

Underground cult icon in Chengdu, founding father of Paradise Records . Enterprises and initiator of legendary pop-up street parties on the Chinese streets. With over twenty years of experience behind the decks he knows how to get a party started. He has spent over ten years refining his musical tastes in China and in turn opening up the Chinese music scene for various western artists.

After running the creative hub, underground hangout and nightclub TAG Chengdu for five years. He’s now currently based in the Dutch west coast once again and has been so kind to record a vinyl only podcast for our listening pleasure. Introducing Naru Nari, one of our first collaborating artists!
Join us next sunday and see her and other artists perform live at Platform at the Hostel Room.

Naru Nari is a Latvian artist based in the Netherlands. Since her childhood, she has had a passion for art and a desire to create. Her works are in a colourful cartoon style.
Her art specializes in people’s portraits made with bright acrylics on canvas. Basically, she prefers to paint female portraits and describes that nothing can be more beatiful than female.
Using different combinations of color makes every work unique and dissimilar from her other works.

“I like to experiment with colours and at the same time I don’t like to show emotions on a person’s face. Colour is emotion, and the colours combination is a story. Usually I choose colours intuitively, trying to find a unique combination. In addition to handmade works, I practice drawing in Illustrator. A big plus in the program is quickness. I can’t say which way of drawing I prefer more, because the results are always different” – Naru Nari.
