I realized I have never introduced myself on here. Hi everyone! My name is Josephine. I started off my career as a florist from growing flowers. Before I grew flowers, I was one of those people that believed flowers were a waste of real estate. After all, why would I plant something I can’t eat? However, now I barely grow any vegetables. Being a wedding florist involves much more than arranging flowers. It’s a meticulous process, starting with sourcing and growing flowers months in advance. I am writing up quotes and having consultations and trying to find a perfect price for your vision. If i am growing your flowers, this process starts as much as a year before your wedding day. I am planting the seeds out, watering them, transplanting them, protecting them from squirrels, groundhogs, fertilizing them and spraying for bug damage.After we harvest the flowers or get the flowers from the wholesaler, we are processing them, stripping the leaves, getting rid of thorns, washing buckets, and then the fun part begins by arranging them. But even then we have to transport these flowers very gently so they do not get damaged in the process and then we get to the venue and have to arrange flowers in the heat, the snow, the wind, the rain and this takes hours. Not pictured are the multiple times that I have cut myself and the annoying job of washing buckets lol.Don’t underestimate your wedding vendors, especially florists who care deeply about bringing your vision to life. My favorite part of using roses is getting to open them. However I prefer to use the first method of gently rolling them rather than reflexing the petals because I like the look of the natural petals compared to the reflex petals.
