Blackbird at Dusk - birdwatching Wild Eindhoven
[TIP: turn the sound on🎵 to listen to the melody]
We can feel the seasons are changing. 🌻Since a few weeks now, in the tree next to my house, a #blackbird sings loudly every morning and evening. He is trying to attract a female blackbird's attention to its beautiful song. And so do many robins, wrens, blue tits and other song birds in every park around us. Treecreepers and nuthatches climb up and down the trees preparing nests and looking for food.
It's a wonderful time of the year to experience the beauty of #birds. 🐦 That's why I am organizing once more this year a short #workshop to help everyone recognize how the most common birds look and sound.
🪽 I invite you to join me on Sunday 7 April in #Eindhoven!

🌳 #WildEindhoven - take a break and discover nature around you.
During winter, many 🐦 #birds turn to urban areas to escape the harshness of the weather.
Tiny goldcrests and firecrests (the smallest birds in Europe!) temporarily leave their forests and flee to city parks, looking for food and warmth.
Large flocks of siskins and chaffinches look for leaf buds and leftover seeds on the trees; they can also be seen bathing in rain puddles. Redwings hang on shrubs and ivys picking berries.
Many other birds species can be seen in our urban parks. 🌲 Which one will you see during your next walk?

Do you have the feeling that jackdaws (🇳🇱 kauw) are even noisier than usual??
That's because they are! 😁
Since mid June that young jackdaws are leaving their nests and tracking their parents around, loudly begging for food. This is also a time for learning, as they carefully watch how to find food, what to eat, what dangers to avoid, while also improving their flight skills.
If they are not being fed (take a look at the video!), you can still tell them apart from adults: adults have the shiny silvery feathers in the back of their necks, but juveniles are still completely black.
Had you noticed this already? Where?
Let me know in the comments.🙂

Sex on Campus! (or almost..) 😁
The male tried. The female said "not right now pall". And off they went.

The lapwings are back!
Lapwings migrate every year to southern Europe before winter (they are even known as Ave Fria "the cold bird" in Spain) and return to the Netherlands and other parts of northern Europe when the seasons get warmer.
A sign that Spring is around the corner! 🥳
Welcome back Kievits!
