A heart to heart is defined as a conversation between two close friends that is candid, intimate and personal. With this spirit in mind, we embark on our new adventure: Heart 2 Heart. Join us in The Black Box Lounge on the third Saturday of each month. We’ll be inviting DJs from vastly different circles of the local underground scene to have a back 2 back - a musical conversation. Every month will

feature three back 2 back sets from a rotating cast of our favorite local selectors. The team behind Heart 2 Heart is a trio of tastemakers with over three decades of combined experience throwing events, DJing, and running labels. Our collective love for sound system music and culture is as deep and personal as a conversation between two close friends. In an effort to spread the love, there will be no cover charge to attend Heart 2 Heart. We can’t wait to see what happens as genres collide, scenes cross-pollinate, and new friends are made. We'll see you in the dance!

We can’t believe this will be our last DJ feature for Heart2Heart! We are very happy to have these two djs connect and see how they will bridge their styles. 📚

We asked the dnb streets about Solid and they fu**ed us up for being nosey. Said they ain't snitchin but word is he's been raving for a real long time. Joe Solid comes from the Midwest but has called Denver home for the past 16 years. In that time, he's been a resident DJ at nearly every club that has hosted dnb in town - from Snake Pit up to the Black Box today. He is also proud to be a part of one of the best known US drum and bass crews, Recon. 💀

Hard to pin down to one style, he tends to drop footwork with drum n bass and he loves playing brand new biz! Catch him at the next Recon DnB event, at various venues around town, or perhaps at your favorite festival. 🥳

With an early influence in hip-hop and Miami bass, Florida-born Cory Magamoll began studying percussion and music theory in 1996, earning his first achievements as Pinellas All County Percussionist 1999. Expanding upon the organics of arrangement in percussion, he began delving into the teachings of jazz, rock, marching drum lines, and orchestra. By 2002, after a short stint at college in Orlando, Cory began touring the southern United States as the drummer for indie rock outfits Hythloday and Sleeping Girl Drowning.

Crazier creatures called, leading Cory to forsake the southeast in 2006 in favor of New York City's vast musical atmospheres. Leaving the classroom in 2008 with a degree in audio engineering, he held an internship building and running live sound Cory was also involved with throwing local dance parties in Brooklyn NY with friends Cory James and Peter Demos. The weekly and bi weekly parties DeepDisco, Carbon and Standout.

Cory Is currently a resident of Denver’s Sorted Social Club and drummer for The Coaching Sessions. 🥁

Next up in the DJ features for our H2H series finale we have b2b ! This pair of friends have a special something ready to go for Saturday. ✨

Robonix is a DJ/Producer from Denver, Colorado. As an immense (and nearly obsessive) appreciator of music from across all genres, his decade's worth of experience as a DJ has found him playing a wide variety of styles of underground electronic music. Over the last few years especially, Robonix has settled his obsession to a more specific sound. A hypnotic style of techno that is as driving as it is delicate, relentless yet soothing. Nevertheless, he still finds himself exploring other unique sounds and often uses his performances as a means to glide between stylings. 🎹

Music is the universal language. A collection of sculpted waves of sound designed to communicate abstract emotions through vibrations. J Claus uses this medium to blend the layers of reality and surrealism, building mind-bending rhythms layered with rich synths and shuddering bass. His selections are deep and groove oriented. Behind the decks he exudes a passionate vibration that infects the crowd. 🎶

It is that time again! We would like to spotlight the final set of b2b djs for our H2H series finale this weekend!! 💕

First up we’ve got Details. With a bio that reads “high end magic, left-field house and breaks” , we will have to lean into the details of his tune selection to really see what he’s all about! 🎯

Ever since Derteedisco picked up the decks, his unique mixing style of disco/90's vocals with hot tracks continues to give us a sound that starts parties and brings down the clubs. With over 600 private shows, numerous club events, playing alongside the likes of Golf Clap, Ferreck Dawn, Ocean Roulette, Treasure Fingers, Luke The Knife, Lupe Fuentes, Option 4, J Phillip, Ryan Shepard, DLMT, Subset, Shdws, Mark Farina, Justin Jay, The Funk Hunters, Luke Andy. Derteedisco makes an excellent addition to any line-up. Currently a part of the Denver collective: My Homies Spin Records and the Los Angeles Label: Lots of Practice. 🎧

After a truly amazing year, our cups and our hearts are overflowing. Our goal when we started Heart 2 Heart was to see what would happen when genres collided, scenes cross-pollinated, and new friends were made. We can safely say that all of these can be checked off the list. For all of us, the best part about this event is how many friendships were made or even strengthened through it.

Denver has grown into a top tier city for electronic music, and we've all felt the energy building over the last few years as the local scene has flourished. We wanted to capitalize on this by shining a light on some of the artists that we felt are truly pushing the bar. And while we didn't get to invite everyone to play that we would have liked, our overall mission was definitely accomplished.

This upcoming Heart 2 Heart will be our final edition, and what a fun experiment it's been! We want to send a huge thank you to The Black Box staff - such a top notch crew of amazing people. And none of this could have been possible without the DJs and dancers. Shout out to all of you. It's been such a great time and an unforgettable experience overall. We hope to see you next Saturday night as we host the final edition of Heart 2 Heart, free as always. See you in the Dance!

It’s time to highlight our final pair of b2b djs playing TONIGHT for our October h2h! 🍂🎃

Not content to stick to one genre, Kevin Kirkland has been playing a multitude of sounds for over a decade. Originally starting as a side project, the alias Sidechick was born out of a need to branch out from the techno centric moniker he'd been using. Recently he has been focusing on uptempo broken beat electro and various jungle-adjacent sounds. 🔊🎛

Perfect Manual is a DJ from Oakland, and Founder of the Denver music collective Send/Receive. Send/Receive’s mission is to bring more breaks, electro, and UK inspired sounds to Denver’s underground. In a short time, they’ve worked with the likes of Jensen Interceptor, Ciel, DJ Voices, and others. As a DJ, you can expect to hear him play a wide range of genres/bpms including UK dubstep, Miami bass and classic electro. 💫😎

It’s hard to believe how much Diego Santana has already released dozens of memorable singles through well-known labels like Bien Amier Records as well as Blind Vision Records, Kina Music, and MINIM Records, just to name a few. 💿

Santana’s constant drive to step outside of his comfort zone and challenge himself has played no small part in his tireless work ethic as a producer. However, his music all comes from a very authentic place. Everything he produces comes from whatever he might be feeling at the time, and you can hear it in every nuance of each arrangement. 🎼

Matthew Shogi is a left-field dance music producer, event curator, and DJ who splits his time between Austin and Denver. He has held a number of residencies in both cities, in addition to hosting DIY/underground events under the .zone brand with his partner .v.dam . As an aficionado of experimental dance music in its many forms, his range in a given set can often be hard to pin down. Fluidly moving between acid house, old school electro, new school breaks, high energy techno, and a healthy dose of jungle and foot work to boot, you’ll often find yourself joyously and seamlessly transported to wide variety of different sonic universes. 💫🌌

R Cole is a producer and DJ based in Brooklyn. Hailing from the Denver DIY warehouse scene, he has been spinning since the late 00's. He specializes in underground breaks, bass, techno, electro and halftime. You can find his releases on Mechanical, The Healing Company, Alien Body and Small Plates. We are stoked to welcome him back to Denver for this! 🏭🎶

Indigo Violet is a producer and DJ born in Los Angeles and raised in Miami. As such, her style of mixing is greatly influenced by the culture and sound of both South Florida and Southern California. When she was a child she got into electronic music by listening to electro artists such as The Chemical Brothers & Fatboy Slim, as well as freestyle artists like Shannon, Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force. Never losing touch with her roots, she has spent years honing her own sound as she taught herself to both produce and DJ music. She believes in the healing power of live music and loves helping to create that for others. 💙🎚🔉

Tonight’s the night and we have one final pair of djs that will be closing out the night to highlight! ⚡️

Influenced by the Denver CO rave scene in the mid to late 90's, Contrast discovered DNB through break dancing and going to warehouse parties as a young teenager. Now, mixing for over 2 decades from the Midwest to the west coast and having held residencies at some of the top club nights in the country and currently holding residencies with Recon, Reload and Altitude Sickness, he has had the opportunity to work alongside of some of the leaders in the industry as a solo act and in his origins as part of an old Denver CO based Drum and Bass tag team (Contrast & Vortex). Over the years Contrast has primarily been known for mixing Drum and Bass and is always paying homage to the godfathers of our musical generation of all genres, educating the new ravers as well as invigorating the old heads, by not just slamming new tunes, but curating a set where classics are just as viable as unreleased tracks and well known banger's. The art of mixing is still very visible in Contrast's style and exposing the crowd to all types of drum and bass is what to expect. These days you can catch Contrast as a solo act or part of a 3 way tag team with fellow Colorado based Djs Ryan Vail and Ghost as Triple Threat. 💥

PRANA /ˈpränə/ “Breath, considered as a life-giving force.” PRANA is seen as a universal energy which flows in currents in and around the body. As founder of Denver based record label and collective Coal Mine Sound, Will Edwards has a keen ear for underground sounds and new talent within our scene. 😮‍💨

We thought it would be a fun pairing between and old school OG and a newer face making waves in Denver to see what they will come up with between their two styles! 🎶

For Kaylie aka DIVINUS, the name says it all: music is destiny, part of past and future. 🔮

Raised outside Baltimore, Kaylie’s introduction to music came from her parents’ love for '80s hair metal. But it wasn’t until she started listening to the iconic 99.1HFS radio station that she got her taste of electronic music legends like The Prodigy and the The Crystal Method. Which ultimately led her into to the stylings of the scremo/hardcore finding herself in the cult followings of Every Time I Die and Enter Shikari.

As a DJ, Kaylie’s passions range from spinning drum n’ bass to melodic/dark techno. She’d love to see you there. ✨

Pounces is the moniker that Heart 2 Heart co-founder Rameau Velez uses when he's feeling frisky and wants to play some house. Born and raised in the Caribbean, Velez always brings a globally-influenced style to his DJ sets. As a member of the local Denver group , Velez has shared the stage with BBC Resident Leon Vynehall, Romare, DJ Hyperactive, and more. Haus Catz also just dropped their first EP "Club Nip, Vol. 1" just days ago on September 13th, and he's excited to drop a track or two from the release on the Black Box system. Expect heavy, soulful house and global club vibes from Pounces during his Heart 2 Heart with Divinus! 💞🐈

Musician, producer and DJ, Dee Orlando straddles the line between rolling dancefloor grooves and melodic soundscapes creating unique bubbling variations of house and techno. With over a decade of production experience working alongside some of the industry's biggest names including DJ Pierre, Jon B. and creating music for media giants like the NBA, iHeart Media and many more, it’s abundantly clear - Dee has made his mark. 🎯

Stefan Bystrzycki, aka StefanB, is a multi-genre DJ whose tastes revolve around heavy four-on-the-floor rhythms and house stylings. A veteran to the Denver electronic scene, Stefan has been throwing events with his event companies and Sleazy Beaches for over a decade. Knows has brought some international heavy hitters to Denver, including Afriqua and Christopher Ledger. If he is seen outside of his house, StefanB is probably helping to run or throwing a great party. 🥳

For our final pairing of this month's Heart 2 Heart, we have two certified legends in the Denver scene. Both are skilled DJs and producers, while also being promoters for some of the best parties the Queen City has to offer. 👑🏙

Few DJs are as beloved in the Denver underground scene as Alex Frick, aka Mr. Frick, and with good reason. Playing shows in CO since the days when CDJs actually required owning a library of CDs, he might have been considered your favorite DJ of any number of a variety of genres at a given point. These days, wielding a notorious arsenal of booty-bouncing, laser-hot tracks that seamlessly melt the boundaries between techno, electro, and breaks with unparalleled style — Mr. Frick’s sets regularly elicit high per-capita grimaces of admiration from fellow selectors, whether playing to a crowd of dozens or thousands. Since starting to produce in recent years, he has released numerous EPs and tracks on underground labels like Foreign Roots and Priroslin Records that exude the same energy as his live performances, and has plenty more in the works. 🔊

Miles Hurwitz, aka Lone Dancer, is a Denver-based DJ and producer with releases on Lobster Theremin, Acid Waxa, Jacktone, Always Human Tapes, Multidim and Deep Club. A long-time DJ and lifelong music head, you can find Lone Dancer playing sets that reflect his expansive tastes, with material ranging from in-your-face club music to freak-out jazz, medium range rock to smoked-out reggae, background ambient to chill-out hip hop. Hurwitz threw many parties with the Deep Club label and crew at underground venues, clubs, and storage units in Denver from 2014-2020, bringing out several international headliners and curating memorable events that were transformative for Denver's blossoming dance music culture. 🏔💕

Ever since we started this party, we knew that we wanted to have these two join us. Not only are they both accomplished for their many contributions to our scene, but they are two of the nicest and most humble guys you could ever hope to meet. We're getting closer and closer to our next Heart 2 Heart! It's just one sleep away, so let's take a look at our next matchup! For our second pairing, we've invited Lali Prolix and Kevin Callison to go Heart 2 Heart. 💕🎉

Based out of Denver, by way of New York and Boston, Lali Prolix serves up all shades and hues of house music and beyond; from minimal techno to jackin house, funk to disco, and all ports in between, her style is seamlessly eclectic and plays to the subtle undercurrents of energies and moods she encounters among the dancers who grace the floor. Lali Prolix has played for dancers from New York to Denver to San Francisco, for the likes of Neon Baby, Mother Earth Sound System, and Space Station, from wee-morning-hour raves to afternoon lake soirees to late night booty-shaking, boot-breaking hootenannies. No matter where or who she plays for, her goal is to share a journey with her playmates and dancers on the floor, and this Saturday she will be joining forces with Denver veteran DJ Kevin Callison. 🔊 🌀

Kevin Callison calls Denver, Colorado home. Delving into various genres to create an "audio movie," taking his listeners on a journey that fills the mind, body and environment into nothing short of a study in sound. Weaving through techno, progressive, breaks, acid and house enables his sound selection to get to the corners allowing the mixes to expand beyond the mundane. Callison has been DJing since the late nineties, curating and performing across the country and internationally in countless shows and events. He is also the co-founder of the longest running electronic weekly in Denver “TheUnderground”, as well as the fabled Ekō house venue in Denver. 🏔⚙️

The eighth Edition of our beloved Heart 2 Heart party is this Saturday night! In what could be the most fitting Heart 2 Heart yet, our first pairing is Romanticizer B2B LUVr. ❤️ 💕😍

Romanticizer's search for hair-raising sounds began in 2013 (unless you count some dabbling in heavy metal guitar years prior). After wobbling across dance floors in NYC, Amsterdam, Berlin and Denver, he spent over a year in a room with a sound system, Rekordbox and kush as his only company. He will arrive at H2H fried but ready to move you, with music to satisfy ravers of all kinds in the crates. Think trance; bleeps; Ambient Dub; sampledelica. New and bizarre sounds are sure to be in abundance in his Heart 2 Heart with LUVr! 🔊😵‍💫💝

Born in the Valley of the Moon (Sonoma, CA), and raised in the Valley of the Sun (Phoenix, AZ), John Traverson, aka LUVr, has been DJing for nearly a decade. Since touching down in Denver, LUVr has made a name for himself within the underground house circuit. With a deep collection of tastefully curated tracks ranging from melodic slow burners to club-ready bangers, it's no surprise to see LUVr sharing the stage with big name international touring acts such as Jacques Greene, Lane 8 and Oscar L. 🌖💘☀️

Local DJ, visual artist and hairstylist Lauren Zwicky (aka ), knows how to flip a norm on its heads everywhere she goes. Whether she’s chopping someone’s ‘do into a wild, neon work of art, curating events at her space Scorpio Palace, or throwing down a DJ set that is impossible not to dance to, Zwicky is not only a party in a person — she’s a queen of glam. ✨🌈🪩

Going back to back with the glam babe we have Palmzhari () in what is sure to be a dancethon to close the night. 💃🏻🕺

Kansas born, Denver based Producer and DJ Palmzhari (that’s palm-zuh-har-ee) was bred musically within the DIY culture of the midwest, which informs his leftfield leaning selections. ⬅️

Expect unconventional and playful selections. Catered to the space but never limited by labels or expectations, Palmzhari is dedicated to the underground sound. No matter the bpm or the label. Palmzhari Dj’s with the intention of creating a memorable set that weaves through styles and genres. 🖐🏻🌴

Next up in our artist feature for July’s edition of H2H we have b2b ! 👯

Starting by playing guitar in the foothills of Colorado, it wasn't until Bindle discovered dance music at his first rave while living in the UK that shaped the trajectory of his music interest henceforth. Not one to be boxed in, nowadays he plays a mixture of genres from the UKG he was initially exposed to, with the left field and deep house sounds he finds himself producing, to eclectic sounds from across the gambit of dance music. 🎶🎸

Going heart to heart with Bindle is Denver’s Chris Kennedy. Chris is a versatile and technical DJ with over a decade of experience getting crowds to lose themselves on the dance floor. A connoisseur of all sounds head-turningly strange and dizzyingly fun, whether he’s playing for 2 hours or 12, at 90 bpm or 123.5 or 170, his deeply selected tracklists leave few genre stones unturned, and any of his fans can remember a time a curveball deep-cut pop anthem remix had them with their hands in the air. As avid a producer as he is a selector, Chris has released dozens of tracks on labels such as Ecke Records, Super Tuff, Routine Espresso, and most recently, cutting edge UK electro/bass hub, Das B***y. He has run the guest-starring monthly Internet Public Radio show known as Have A Good One (.live) where he routinely teases his unreleased material, for 3 years and has recently transformed that brand into a party series that is defining of a new generation of taste-making in Denver. ✨🎉

We can’t wait to see how these two work the decks together, but we know for sure we will be dancing heart during their set! 🪩

It's hard to believe that our seventh edition of Heart 2 Heart is incoming this weekend! We've had such a great journey so far, and we can't wait to keep it going. Today we'll be shining a spotlight on our first pairing for Saturday night - S.I.X.X.X.D B2B Sweetprince. 🪄

S.I.X.X.X.D. has been DJing since 2016, when she was sidelined from her semi-professional soccer career. She used music as a sort of replacement for her daily athletic routine. She quickly honed her skills and began playing alongside a local rapper and RnB singer formerly known as Sur Ellz. She is no stranger to big stages, having played Mishawaka, The Black Box, and more. Fans of S.I.X.X.X.D. have grown to love her high-energy, multi-genre blend of hip-hop, afrobeats and club music. S.IX.X.X.D. will be going B2B with Sweetprince this Saturday. 💃🏽

Alex "Sweetprince" Stone is a sweet Producer and DJ based out of Denver, CO. He has been hailed by the UKG Proper / Coal Mine Sound as a "Badman... Backseat Selector... a Down & Dirty DJ." He is a producer of multiple genres, including dark dubstep, DnB, and Two-Step. When he is not being a very busy and sought after bartender guy, Sweetprince can be found mixing, producing, playing with his cat, and searching for cool new sounds. ⚙️

We can't wait to see what these two cook up for us when they are paired together. As always, Heart 2 Heart is a FREE event! 🎊
