Weapon

Is an artist, indie game developer and "structured sound" producer from the Netherlands. She played a variety of instruments in various unsuccesful rock and free improvisation bands until she decided to focus her endeavors on the world of electronic sound synthesis. She loves to explore and investigate ways within which immersive sound and music can change a location's atmosphere, which is what initially has drawn her towards sound design and production.

She usually focuses on atonal techno, but for the occassion she will present you with a selection of her favorite disco tracks.

Very curious what Weapon will bring to Vrankrijk this Saturday!

Unponounceable

Mauro Rizla was born in Pescara (Italy) in 1974.

He discovered his passion for DJing at a young age of 13, when in those years Afro-Funk music was very popular in his area.

Due to the strong similarity between his surname and the famous brand of rolling papers, his friends lovingly dubbed him Rizla, and his alias was made.

From 2015 based in Amsterdam, focused also on the "Unpronounceable" project that express his origins related to Electro, Dark-Wave, Synth-Wave, Post-Punk, Psych, Industrial, Experimental.

Nice to work together again and looking forward for this Saturday!

Central Disko X Pride

On Sunday the 4th of June Central Disko is back with a Pride edition… 

For this special occasion we invited the lovely Maxime Duvall. Well known for the 'Disco Total ' parties in Amsterdam and her releases from the Bo****lo a Parigi label. Both concepts are also big examples for Central Disko and we are looking very forward to hosting her performance.

Special Rainbow Sushi will be on the menu that day and a special cocktail bar with drinks in all colors of the (inclusive) rainbow flag. 

Besides the nice music and menu there will also be performances and dance acts including the 'Gay agenda Propaganda' performance, mocking mostly far right and conservative ways of thinking about LGTBQIA+ community and especially (POC) trans people. 

Especially for this Pride edition, we have to realize the foundations where this party is based on. Namely a celebration of Queerness, which oftentimes has been oppressed. There have been some victories in acceptance and lawmaking, but this last decade shows this can change overnight by false information and wrong thoughts. 

It is important to know where the Pride movement comes from, let’s continue to move it forward and celebrate this night with all our colours!

Rotterdam-based Ofra is a record digger who loves to share her music always and anytime, whether it’s through an intimate listening radio show or a steamy nightclub set. A lover of Wave, New Beat, EBM and Electro, she also holds a special place for Punk and Shoegaze music. Over the years she has created her own rich music palette as a curator, performer and DJ and in 2017 she co-founded the Rotterdam-based online radiostation Operator. Ofra’s eyes and ears are extra alert when curating programs to connect artists and music lovers. Besides, Ofra has started her own record label and the first release will be out soon!

The visuals for next week!

Aubane Berthommé Martinez is a Rotterdam-based working-class artist and curator. She approaches arts and culture as socio-political and educational tools.
As a multidisciplinary artist, she uses various mediums (mainly photography, ceramics, and painting) to explore, question, and re-construct elements defining one’s identity, with a focus on gender and sexuality. Using self-representation as an empowering process, she gazes at the gaze by reappropriating exotified and historical western aesthetics, honouring her Mediterranean background. Her visual language combines pop culture, kitsch, and extravagance. With an immoderate taste for sweet-sour colors, glitters, and dead plants, she plays with the conventional borders of the mediums she uses.
Considering curation as a medium, Aubane developed a research-based curatorial practice reinterpreting contemporary social classes.
In 2020, she co-created Squish, a q***r and feminist cultural platform supporting LGBTQ+ culture makers. Using multidisciplinary events, the organization questions identity politics with an intersectional approach. Squish emphasizes combining research-based and nonacademic approaches to reach a larger audience and facilitate peer support among members of marginalized or precarious communities.
In 2022, she co-created Kollection Kitsch, a three-month-based exhibition series aiming to make art more accessible both financially and conceptually, by partially turning Wunderbar into an art bar. Featuring local proletarian artists exploring rejected or mocked aesthetics and themes, the aim of the collective is to deconstruct the dominant bourgeois gaze as well as celebrate bad taste and pop culture.

Shocked and devistated by the news off Alexis passing! The Central Disko concept was invented/founded with his ideas and experience. Always inspiring and chasing his passion for music, nightlife and good times. This concept wouldn't have been as it is now without your tribute for the music, ideas and your passion. Besides losing a good friend, your experience and knowledge about music, and parties are irriplacable!

To honor your memory, this Sunday we will play one of his favorite sets during the .worm show!

Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones and many friends he had!

Central disko will be back with:

Central Disko X Telenovela X Pascua de Resurrección de María Magdalena

This Easter Sunday Central Disko will return with its own Telenovela episode! This means spicy 'Picante' performances, dramatic entrances/exits and living the life in the 'Haciendas' or in this case 'Worm' 

Besides the episode, there will off-course be a dance party and performances in the same style. The kitchen will be open till 22:00 and will serve hot chili as the main course, and also some spicy tapas for the smaller appetite! As expected there will be a nice selection of local DJs making you dance till the end, including some of Wunderbar's own!

See you then!

Played at the first Central Disko at Radio Worm and will surprise us with a nice bunch of music as much now as then!

Dagobah Soundsystem

It has been a while, but they are back! Starting their collective and parties way back when
Was a much younger place still, now returning almost 9 years later when half of them are actual proud dads!



Has already played some nice music before at the party and the .worm show before, but now the whole of Dagobah Soundsystem is here...

They play mostly vinyl eclectic (Italo)disco, House, Techno weirdness. With sydney (also known as Syd2000) , Freek, Niels and Marcus. They promise to be an exciting spectacle and bring a lot of nice Italo/Disco/house/wave/electro and other records!

Programming, organising, researching and dj'ing; Krismika likes to be involved both on and off stage of Rotterdam's nightlife. She organises events for and is part of Operator Radio's programming team. Her sound is heavily influenced by the months she spent in Prague last year. She saw here that the sound of Prague's nightlife was a lot darker and gloomier than what she knew from Rotterdam. This was exactly what she was longing for after Covid, thus she translated this into Spleen; a series of nights at Weelde that can be seen as an ode to the night and its obscurities. As a dj her sound yields a broad selection of tunes within the genres of electro, new beat, ebm, wave and italo. A dark combination destined to get (and keep) you dancing.

Tre Turner is a Scottish DJ, producer, record collector and classic hardware enthusiastresiding in Amsterdam. His euro-house, Italo and new beat-inspired studio jams haveappeared on labels such as Fauve Records, Cracki Records and Scenic Tones.

Mochtar is a Rotterdam-based DJ with over 15 years in the game who previously operated as Slick Chick. As a DJ, she's stylish and versatile, with a truly deep record bag and a proud list of events and affiliations with the likes of and IFM.
Already a familiar .disko, she played at the 1st party.

DJ Braathals (Balthasar Berkhuijsen)

His love for electronic music started in the 70s, when mom in a drunken mood played Donna Summer and Kraftwerk deep in the night.

Insipered by mixtapes from the Club Downtown in Maassluis,  Balthasar started collecting and mixing import –disco records.

His DJ carreer started with illegal (pirate) radio station of his high school Ference van der Sluijs (I-F). There he started mixing Italo, Early electro, Disco and later also New Wave.

Weekly he went to the import-record stores making him one of the first collectors of the House and Techno that came from Chicago and Detroit in around 1986/1987.

In 1989 a meeting with Eddy de Clercq, (one of the founders of the Amsterdam based club Roxy) led to getting more gigs in the underground scene. From the Roxy, to Night Town in Rotterdam, but also smaller venues in the region, from Berlin, Nice, Curitiba (Brazil) and Buenos Aires, he always managed to surprise the audience on every dance floor.

From the 90s till the Corona crisis, he played under the name DJ Battlestar and mostly Tech-house, Techno and House.
  Anno 2022, he took his mothballs out of his records and is excited to surprise the (Radio) Worm crowd happy with his 80s mixes of Italo, Electro and New Wave.
