Mississippi history has been made! The first Mississippian attempted the Race Across America solo.
Edward Abdella rode over 625 miles climbing mountains & plunging through deserts on his Bianchi specially fitted on an Infinity Bike Seat.
Despite his stubborn ways, Team Abdella pulled him off the bike due to breathing issues. Regardless how you calculate it, he won’t be the first Mississippian to complete RAAM - THIS YEAR. Seeking a professional medical opinion and keeping him safe simply caused too much time off the bike.
To know Ed’s past is to know one of the toughest and most charitable humans ever. He rides like a beast. To qualify for this race, he averaged 16 mph & completed The Natchez Trace 444 in just over 26 hours.
Ed nor his team are considering this shift in our journey as a loss. It’s been a lot of lessons and motivators.
Hope Village for Children is near & dear to our hearts. Efforts to support them continue.
Meanwhile, we gotta get The Flying Freight Train home. Prayers for safe travels, enlightening adventures, and health.
Personally, I didn’t expect to say - “This is just the beginning.” It is. Stay Tuned!
MISSISSIPPI TO RAAM
June 14, 2024
RAAM Media 2 hits the road to Atlantic City tomorrow with the teams, but we got word from Racer 688, Ed Abdella’s crew that he was in need of some motivation! What better motivation than some RAAM fan comments to read to him?!
Ed qualified for RAAM multiple times at Natchez Trace 444, but finally decided that he wanted to tackle the big one and, with it, raise $1,000,000 for his charity! He’s not a guy who sets the bar low!
Ed’s media team wrote the following about him: “Ed Abdella is the first Mississippian to attempt the Race Across America. He is a teacher, veteran, and endurance cyclist. He is doing this for the veterans, his brothers that are no longer here, and to raise money for Hope Village. Hope Villiage is a therapeutic group home for children that serves all 82 counties of Mississippi. His goal is to raise 1 million dollars for them.

They also sent along a photo of Ed honoring the history of UFO sightings in the desert southwest!

been abused, neglected, or abandoned. Hope Village is “home” to some of Mississippi’s most vulnerable. It is a place for hope and healing, and a future.
