After hearing a few people mention that there's a new restaurant on the waterfront, I decided to give it a try. When you have been living in Richards Bay long enough, you will know the excitement of a new restaurant is quite a hype. So I decided to be brave and take my 3 boys along to a fine dine restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised at how much they enjoyed it considering there is no play area (which is what they're used it).
The entrance is tastefully decorated and you get a clear impression of the type of dining provided. The lighting was sufficient yet soft and perfectly matched to the decor. All staff were very well presented and uniforms were professional. Each table was well set and chairs placed perfectly. The table settings are classic of a fine dine restaurant. The decor simply flows from the entrance right through to the deck outside. This is definitely a restaurant with the perfect backdrop for amazing photos of special occasions. The colors used for the decor is bold yet so calming.
On arrival we were welcomed and greeted by the manager aswell as the waiters. The manager asked where we would like to be seated, inside or outside. When we were shown the outside area, we were offered the option of a table setting or to relax in the lounge area. Upon being seated at our table, the manager proceeded to tell us that the waitress would be with us shortly. Within a minutes our waitress arrived and before placing our menus, she first introduced herself very enthusiastically. She spoke clearly and maintained eye contact throughout her introduction and while placing menus in front of us. Drink orders were taken and within 15min we had received our drinks. The Barbie Malibu was my favorite cocktail, perfectly balanced flavors. My mom and eldest son opted for a strawberry dacquiri (mocktail version) and they both said it was delicious and not overly sweet. We placed our food orders and did not wait long at all. The manager frequented our table often to check if we were happy. Our food arrived and the faces were worth a thousand words. My kids couldn't stop talking about every little detail that went into their plates. My grilled salmon was a very generous portion and it tasted absolutely delicious. Very tender and succulent with the perfect ratio of seasoning. I always say a restaurants credibility is based on their ability to cook a decent steak. My youngest son ordered a 300g medium to rare rump, it was a beautiful piece of meat. Tender and so juicy. My other son ordered the kids chicken nuggets and chips. I was very surprised. It was served with a proper cheese sauce on the side (not the kind made from a powder). Most restaurants don't give much attention to their kiddies menu but Sindu made sure that kids get to experience the same culinary experience as the adults. My eldest son ordered sushi and his words were "it's the best sushi in Richards Bay". My mom enjoyed tender ribs and chips with a delicious basting.
The choice in crockery, glassware and cutlery not only matches the restaurant's style but it matches the food style very well.
With generous portions we unfortunately had no room for dessert. Will have to return for that.
The prices are honestly reasonable and worth it. I was actually pleasantly surprised that for a fine dine restaurant, their prices are on par with most franchise restaurants that actually offer less.
Well done Sindu, keep up the great service that you offer 👌
