Tyson vs Paul.. definitely a Smoker

Gotta talk about this-the greatest smoker in history! Everyone is Saturday morning quarterbacking this (except Paulie Malignaggi who called it beforehand) so what happened?

ONE-size of gloves. In a real pro fight the gloves are 10 oz but these were 14. In gym sparring they use 16s and the bigger guys sometimes use 18s or 20s. 14s are 40% bigger than 10s. So instead of a pro fight, it was more of a glorified sparring match...

I won't lie--I didn't know that the gloves would be so big so I thought that Tyson had the puncher's chance, but with 14s that really never existed. You hear all the time how boxers do well in sparring but not so much in fights--this is a big part of it. The 10s are hitting with deadly weapons while the 14s are sparring.

TWO-Paul ran. Yes he did. You gotta do what you gotta do, and that was NOT to let the old man hit you with a bomb, even with 14s. Punches still hurt. And an accumulation of them can really hurt. In the fight, Mike's 58 year old legs couldn't keep up. Good strategy by Jake, and the proof that Mike could still hit hard is that Jake didn't try to throw combos or stay anywhere near Mike. If Jake really committed to any serious offensive attack he could of gotten hurt in the exchange.

THREE-I got ripped off. No you didn't. You wanted to see just like everyone else if the 60 year old could beat a 30 year old. This was gosh-darn intriguing. Like a movie. Why wouldn't you want to watch? And Netflix played it for free.

FOUR-Mike looked great training. Exactly. That's why it's called training. That's why Tik Tok trainers can look fabulous. Fighting is different.

FIVE-But Mike's legacy. His legacy was a rollercoaster anyway. The fact that he made so much money is the biggest compliment and testament to Mike. They filled a stadium and got a gazillion views. He got a pension with one fight, where he didn't risk real harm.

SIX-YouTubers are ruining boxing. No they are NOT. Jake Paul is bringing extra millions of fans into the game. With SMOKERS. Getting both boxers and entertainers paid. Making curiously interesting matches, including MMA vs Boxing. Making Smokers real. Jake Paul is a genius, and he took care of Mike... He's my new Hero. Smoker Talk!
