We’re Open! Til 2pm. 🥳
Lots of Vinyl and CDs courtesy of High Voltage Wairarapa.
Friday 16th of August we have a special concert, featuring a combination of live music, and live visual art, with both mediums interacting with each other in unknown and interesting ways.
Featuring:
PERPETS. The duo of Antony Milton, and Zac Winterwood. Perpets make their live performance debut with a unique style of improvised, minimalist, abstract music played on acoustic and electric guitars.
FILTERSPHERE. The duo of James Gilberd on drums and John Kingston on guitar. Between the two of them they build walls of guitar textures, accompanied by thundering percussion & raining cymbals. Feeling like the sounds to an unmade movie.
Wairarapa artist ROSALIE JURCZENKO will (in a sense) "perform" the creation of her abstract art as an interaction with the music.

MESS ESQUE Live in Featherston
Aussie indie darlings MESS ESQUE are performing in Featherston next Thursday 7th March.
Featuring Mick Turner! Founder of The Dirty Three, and collaborator with such artists as Cat Power, Bonnie Prince Billy, Bill Callahan, Nick Cave, and many others.
Mess Esque features Mick Turner and Helen Franzmann. The duo released their second album - simply titled Mess Esque on Milk! records (and Drag City in the US). Things quickly moved along with an Australian, American and European tour. Their debut album landed in Jeff Tweedy’s Top Ten of 2021 and led to a coveted invitation to Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival in Massachusetts where they also played in Will Oldham’s band. Tours with Kurt Vile and Big Thief followed.
Through a patient balance of improvisations and a focused pursuit of something that wasn’t fully there at the start, Mess Esque willed themselves and their world into verdant, lustrous being.
For their first time in Aotearoa, Mess Esque are going to recreate these special songs with Keeley Young (Claude) on bass/vocals and Greg Cairns (The Verlaines) on drums. The results will no doubt be as captivating & mesmeric as they appear on the records.
