Pausing... not stopping. We are committed to supporting Gatehouse Home Store and Foodbank with this new venture, but we must be safe and healthy about it. We feel deeply for the musicians and venues who are on their knees right now, wondering how to move forward. Please be assured this enormous party WILL happen, and we WILL raise a bunch of money for Gatehouse, and we WILL spread music across the city... just not this Spring. Gatehouse needs help now more than ever so it feels horrible not to be able to assist right now, so please. PLEASE donate. If you think it’s hard for you to find pasta and toilet roll, please imagine how hard it is for someone living on just a few dozen pounds a week, or critically ill, and relying on the foodbank. Visit their page, donate financially, put food in the trolleys at the supermarkets. We will see you soon, we promise. 💛

So... what is Bury Band Day?! 🤔🤔🤔

🔸 A new multi-venue music event showcasing some of the area’s amazing musical talent
🔸 A massive fundraiser for Gatehouse Foodbank
🔸 A day to introduce brand new people to Bury’s live music scene

Throughout the day on Saturday the 2nd of May, music will be taking place in Independent Venues around Bury such as The Hunter Club, The Con Club, The Vinyl Hunter, SO Bar, Guat’s Up, The Tavern on St. John’s Street... and many more.

There are a few spots left for musicians looking to play, particularly solo/duo acts. And if you are a local independent venue that would like to help us raise LOADS of money (or food!) for Gatehouse then please get in touch here or by emailing [email protected]

Really excited about this!!
We are moving the date of our inaugural Bury Band Day to be part of the amazing city wide Bury St Edmunds Fringe Festival this year! On SATURDAY, the 2nd of MAY we will be bringing together multiple independent venues across Bury for a day PACKED with music, all to support the heroes over at Gatehouse Home Store and Foodbank!

First of a series leading up to the big day in June... all about celebrating Bury's vibrant music scene and coming together as a community to support Gatehouse Home Store and Foodbank. Our first event is next month at Hunter Club - Bar & Venue ... the first in a series of Bury Band Nights in the run up to Bury Band Day itself on the 13th of June 2020. 😎 This lineup covers the spectrum of Americana, from banjo picking to bluesy rock - and a lot in between. Friday night was 👏🏼! The Hunter Club - Bar & Venue won Best Small Venue of the year at the The NMG Awards, I screamed like a little girl, danced a bit, and even briefly got to talk on the mic with Tim Willett about Bury Band Day (although I don’t remember that bit I’m assured it was acceptable)

We will have lots of new venues announced soon for the takeover, in addition to the Hunter Club we will be working with venues such as Constitutional Club-social club, So Bar, Vinyl Hunter and loads more. So keep your eyes open!

It’s all to help Gatehouse Home Store and Foodbank - because when the world feels like it’s on fire (and doesn’t it just?! 🔥) it is important to remember we CAN actually make a difference in the lives of people near us. With music, with companionship, with empathy, with food. ☺️🙌🏼

Behold! The lineup for our first Bury Band Night, as part of the run up to Bury Band Day next summer! Entry is a donation of cash or food to the Gatehouse Food Bank. We’ve got a great mix of banjo picking, harmonies, smooth singing, and bluesy rock here!

All of these events are about supporting local musicians, local venues, and our community. 🙏🏼 Helping us support the food bank is an easy way to make a REAL and tangible difference in peoples lives, and doing it while having a fabulous night out too? Perfect. 🤩

Hey!! In preparation for the The NMG Awards coming up soon (which we are proud to sponsor) we’ve created our first poster. What do you think?? We are busy getting all the venues brought together and supporting events planned - including our Americana Night on the 11th of October at Hunter Club - Bar & Venue.... we’re staying busy and will have lots of Venue announcements soon! 🥰 So happy to be supporting Gatehouse Home Store and Foodbank through the whole series of events!
