What Is Celo Network?
For those of you unfamiliar with Celo Network, Celo is a layer 1 protocol and blockchain platform, and the Celo Mainnet is entirely separate from the Ethereum network.
While the Celo client originated as a fork of Ethereum Go language client, go-ethereum (or geth), it has several significant differences, including a proof-of-stake based PBFT consensus mechanism (Low Carbon footprint) .
it’s one of the first well-structured platform acting as a global payment infrastructure for cryptocurrencies that aims to target mobile users. To this end, Celo’s goal is for financial activity to be accessible to anyone globally thanks to its ability for payments to be sent to and from any phone number in the world.
Low fees, fast transactions, a secure chain, these are some of the key defferentiators in Celo.
Low fees open up an opportunity for people from all around the crypto space to freely move into the ecosystem, into various aspects of Decentralised Finance.
