I wanna get hitched.
There is nothing as exciting as planning a wedding, at least for me since I am a wedding planner. I enjoy seeing two people deciding to start and build a new life together. Love is a beautiful thing, isn’t it? In the midst of it all, something got me thinking, 1) What is marriage? 2) Is marriage mandatory? 3) What are the reasons for marriage.
Some people say marriage is just a piece of paper, but if it is the case why do people value it so much, why can’t one just walk in to the Magistrate’s court and get themselves one. Well, the definition of marriage varies depending on cultures, religions and beliefs. Some say…Marriage is a legally and socially sanctioned union, usually between a man and a woman. Though we now have same s*x marriages. The marriage however is regulated by laws, rules, customs, beliefs and duties of partners and accords status to their offspring.
Though we are encouraged to marry for love, in other cultures love is not considered the primary motive for matrimony. Other people marry for social status, age, s*xual gratification, companionship , division of labor between partners or for production purposes. Frankly speaking these are only but a few reasons why people marry. If you were to ask those in marriage why they chose to legally stay together you will be shocked, but then it’s understandable as we all have various preferences. Some value security more than love, some value beauty above everything else. You could be wondering where am coming and going with this. Well, the name of the page says it all, “I Also Wanna Get Hitched”. This is a glimpse of what this we are a going to be talking about on this group. As I mentioned on top, I am a wedding planner and have experienced quite a lot during the period of planning this big day(Weddings). I have seen couples almost breaking up, I have seen couples questioning their love for each other as well as their commitment, I also have seen others improving their communication skills.
So I employ some couples and wedding planners to come and share their stories as this might help those who are looking forward to getting married. Because despite the challenges almost everyone wants to get hitched (Married).
