Engaged Couple Breaks Ground on Local Venue

Is there a better time to invest in a venue than when planning a wedding? That is exactly what the co-owners of the upcoming gathering place did. The Valley Venue is under construction and expected to open next year in late spring or early summer. The exquisite venue offers an array of packages and amenities for clients to choose from.
The local couple, Lucas Middleton and Danelle Morrill, are not strangers to the community. “We both went to school here together,” Danelle said. “I am a teacher and coach varsity volleyball at the high school.”
Lucas is employed as a geologist for Atkins Engineering. “He is one owner and the brewery for Milton’s Brewing,” Danelle said. They plan to be married at the new venue, although it will not be completely done by their wedding date.
“I have been to a lot of weddings,” Danelle said while sharing that many of them were out of town. Thus, the couple saw a need in the community. “We’re excited to bring this to town.”
A 5,400-square-foot building is under construction by local contractor Alvin Johnson with Crosscutt Construction, according to Danelle. The banquet level, with a 20-foot-high ceiling, will have a bar area in the center, along with restrooms and storage areas. The plans include an upper level to feature bride and groom suites for wedding parties to get ready in, along with foresight for future growth, which may include adding a kitchen for the use of caterers and a side room to accommodate small parties.
The venue will be nestled in a pecan orchard in Happy Valley. The address is expected to be on Harmon Lane, although that has not yet been determined. Danelle said the property was purchased last year, and grass seeds have been planted. To add to the enjoyment of venue visitors, the couple has alpacas, which will be available to roam the property. They intend to offer inside or outside event space.
Weddings, parties, corporate events, reunions, and more are expected to utilize the venue at an affordable price. “We are trying to be reasonable,” Danelle said. “As a couple about to get married, we have researched it thoroughly.”
The brochure they provided indicates the base package for venue rental will be $3,500, with a premium package with added services and amenities for $5,000. The list of rentals and amenities includes items like tables, chairs, linens, plate chargers, a backdrop stand, a photo booth, décor, and cleanup. This provides choices to assist venue clients in adapting to a budget.
When asked if The Valley Venue will do catering, Danelle replied, “To start off with, we will be venue-only.” Her take is that by just concentrating on one thing—providing the venue—other local businesses will be included with the opportunity to provide their specialty for weddings, parties, and events.
“We are really excited,” Danelle said, adding this type of venue has been needed for a while. Compared to competitors, she said, “It’s more accessible for Carlsbad locals.”
Danelle expressed gratitude for the “wonderful help” that she and Lucas have received from their families in making their vision a reality.

Thank you everyone so much for all the support you have shown us already! We can't wait to open up next year. We would like to thank Bstk Studio for making our ideas come to life in the mockups. We will keep everyone updated on the status of construction. Since we are waiting on concrete to be poured this week, we hope you enjoy this sneak peak of the orchard instead of the rebar picture we thought about posting.
