I am a Woman of Inspiration WINNER! I am just thrilled with this recognition.

The Women of Inspiration Awards Gala was magical and indeed inspiring!

Michael Burns, CEO of Canada's Valour Games and Monica Kretschmer, CEO of Universal Womens Network were terrific co-hosts.

The evening started with a youth-choreographed dance routine by Hannah Isenberg. They were so energetic and vibrant and brought up the energy in the room.

A real special treat for all of us was to be serenaded by Youth Inspirational Award Winner - Roberta Battaglia who graced the stage with her angelic voice, proving why she received the Golden Buzzer on AGT.

Duane D.O. Gibson, a two-time world record-setting rapper worked his magic as he created an on-the-spot rap specially created for the Women of Inspiration Awards.

The highlight for me was an intimate chat with Bobbi Brown and her husband Steven. They talked about the early days of their business and how they managed their working relationship for the past decades. It was a tender, authentic and indeed inspirational conversation between two business moguls. I felt honored to get a peak into her iconic business minds and picked up a few nuggets of inspiration!

Yesterday I enjoyed the day in downtown Toronto seeing the sites and shopping. It was my gift to myself. I felt a little like Bobbi Brown

Bobbi said on Thursday night, she is inspired by the world around her and values her walks. She says on these walks she clears her mind and is open to creativity.

She named her new company Jones Road Beauty when she was driving and came up Jones Road. She liked the name and the company was born.

I saw all sorts of images, designs and colors yesterday and have stored them in the "Bright Ideas" vault for future event creations.

I have been a judge for the Canadian Special Events Magazine Awards for several years now and I can firmly say that this year the calibre and quality of submissions were outstanding!

Although I didn't enter the awards this year due to family commitments, I applaud every submission. The events that I judged were carefully curated, masterful and innovative.

Bravo to the finalists on the list! Thanks to Stacy Wyatt and Jason Koop for creating this platform for us to showcase our work.

Happy International Women's Day to all of the women in my orbit.

Today we hold our heads up high for the incredible work that we do in this world.

Whether we are mothers, nurses, construction workers, business owners, etc. our job is important.

So today I am celebrating us! Really take the time today to enjoy how amazing you are and share this day with others who cherish you.

And to all my fellow event judges, thank you for your contribution to the event industry and to Canadian Special Events Magazine for trusting us with this prestigious honour.

I am extremely grateful that I can give back to a community that has been so good to me for the last 36 years.

BIG SHOUT OUT to Emelle's Catering Ltd. for the delivery this morning on Valentine's Day. Thank you for the cookies. It was so sweet and thoughtful.

I have been planning events for 36 years and in the "olden days" we did this sort of thing. It was a personal way of thanking one another for the business.

Nowadays I rarely see this done, even though I continue with thank you gifts and handwritten cards to clients, event partners and staff.

Thanks to Nicole Petersen and her team for knowing how to make a true impression.

And a long lasting impression I might add.

Thank you to everyone who added their comments to my last post.

I promise to read and respond to each comment. I have been enjoying the season by writing Christmas cards, wrapping gifts and making phone calls, as well as squeezing in a bit of event planning here and there :-)

I found this note again today and it still resonates with me.

I keep forgetting that wellness comes in so many forms. In the past, I only focused on physical wellness and didn't bother with my mental, emotional or spiritual wellness.

Exploring these now and it feels so right.

Sharon won an all-expense trip to Toronto for 2 including airfare and two nights stay at a luxury hotel from Ignite Magazine and Toronto Destination the exact day she was nominated for a Women of Inspiration Award with the Gala being held in Toronto.

Wowee! Talk about manifestation hey? We are absolutely over the moon and still cannot believe it!

Guess What?

We won a NATIONAL EVENT AWARD at the Awards in Toronto, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Isn’t that amazing?!

We are just so incredibly happy with this award, as the competition in this category was fierce. Thank you to our client NorLand Limited for the many years of business and giving us the freedom to manifest our event vision. (We will be offering an official press release next week, but could not wait to share the news with you.)

Here is a little bit about the event…

Have you ever walked the streets of Paris in the evening? Guests attending this event can now say that they have done so, as they were encouraged to explore all of the sights of Paris at night. Themed “With Love From Paris”, the event was held in an empty Train Station with 20,000 square feet of available event space and transformed into the most enchanting and romantic Streets of Paris during the holidays. The glittering Eiffel Tower standing proudly centered in the venue, was surrounded by historic monuments, Parisian Cafés, and a Snow-Covered Park, mesmerized guests. It was an immersive experience like no other!

Thank you to Lynn Fletcher our friend and colleague for bringing home the award for us.

Oops! We did it again!

We are so excited to share that Bright Ideas Event Agency has won its 17th Canadian Event Industry Award in Toronto for the "Best Virtual Corporate Event Under $100,000". Yippee!

When COVID struck our industry hard, we retrained our staff to become certified as VEMM – Virtual Event Meetings Management Specialists and entered the world of producing Virtual Events.

We took our 34 years of producing engaging corporate events and reimagined these events for the virtual space.

For this award-winning event, our friends at and helped us produce a completely customized Virtual Beach Retreat environment for our client.

The result was a fun and memorable virtual event that brought together a group of colleagues that had been working remote for over a year.

Throughout the event, the focus was on providing opportunities for our virtual guests to stay connected (the event was 5 hours long!) along with creating shared experiences and opportunities to compete.

Competition was at the top of our client’s event goals, and we are happy to report that the attendees enjoyed team-building activities along with culinary competitions and virtual excursions.

This Virtual Beach Retreat included a highly engaging agenda where all participants stayed and participated for the entirety of the event. They got to play, laugh and have a unique shared experience together which checked off all of the boxes for our client.
