When choosing our name, we thought a lot about the symbolism behind various plants and this ultimately led us to choosing Fig 🍃
Fig leaves, trees and fruit have been a huge part of various cultures throughout time and can be regarded as one of the staples of life and a symbol of abundance and prosperity.
📌 But let’s break it down a bit more into some specific reasons we chose the name Fig:
We found that the fig’s seeds signify universal understanding, unity, and truth. These 3 elements are a part of what we’ve built Studio Fig on, priding ourselves on our community and authenticity 🌟
The tree itself is a well-known symbol of enlightenment which is what we hope to bring the creatives we work with. It also symbolises stability and productivity which link to our business goals 😊

I just graduated from DMU with a first class honours in Arts and Festivals Management and yesterday I turned 22! 🥳
My dream is to run a multi-functional arts space that showcases and celebrates loads of wonderfully talented and unique individuals. As a disabled dancer, accessibility is hugely important to me and this is something I would love to have a part in improving in the sector.
I love music, chicken nuggets and octopuses 🐙 and I recommend that you all watch the film 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', it's amazing and definitely a must watch!

Hello - Anna here, Founder and Co-Director of Studio Fig!
During my 5 years of working in the creative sector in marketing and event roles, I soon realised how important digital presence is for creative organisations and businesses. I also realised how much work still needs to be done to make the arts more diverse, inclusive and authentic.
As a working class, disabled and q***r creative - I have experienced and understand some of the barriers in place, yet I am aware of my privilege and that as somebody who is white and not visibly disabled, I 'pass' in a lot of spaces compared to marginalised voices in the space.
My love for the arts began during my childhood. As a dancer and artist myself, I am really passionate about how we can use the arts to support political and societal issues.
I love the colour yellow, a good cup of coffee and anything retro. My recommendation this week is the song 'Ode to the Dance floor' by Niki and the Dove. It has been on repeat!
Co-directors Anna & Beth met at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) whilst studying Arts and Festivals Management.
During their final year of studies, the pair worked together on Cultural Exchanges Festival! During this time, they realised how well they work together, and how they aren't done with supporting creativity in the East Midlands.
Both sharing a strong love for the arts and a passion for making the sector more inclusive, diverse and authentic - they decided to join forces once again, birthing Studio Fig ✨
