C H R I S T M A S // M A R K E T 🌲

annual Christmas Market will be on Sunday 17 November from 11am to 4pm at their award-winning distillery on Punchbowl Lane in Dorking. Owner Kate will be sizzling bratwurst, the distillers will be serving hot gin punch, and their talented bartenders will be making festive cocktails.

There will be 10% discount on bottles and lots of stalls from GK friends including Parkgate Pottery, Charlotte Godfrey Art, Twinkleton Art, The Flower Shed, Village Greens Farm Shop, Norbury Blue Cheese, Surrey Bee Collective, and many more.

The Gin Kitchen are also launching vibrant new branding for Dancing Dragontail, created by Surrey Hills artist Charlotte Godfrey. The design features the dragontail butterfly, along
with cardamom, iris and grapefruit plants. The new bottles will go on sale on 17 November at their Christmas Market, and online.

The Gin Kitchen are also excited to launch a limited batch of Damson Dachshund Gin Liqueur, a festive twist on last year’s Sloe Gin. This rich and fruity damson-infused gin is perfect for holiday celebrations. It will go on sale at 11am on 17 November at our Christmas Market, and online.

Hope you all enjoyed your Summer - if we can call it that with the sporadic weather we have had to endure!

As Autumn nights are setting in and everyone’s back to school/work we all need to give ourselves a bit of a break from the routine and have some much-needed fun. And what better way to do so than going some of the fab events that are on this month – Beaverbrook have their Balloon Dining Experience, Foxhills are putting on an Outdoor Cinema Night and The Liqs Club have some great performers and tastings every weekend. Check out our ‘What’s On’ and ‘Calendar’ on pages 15 and 17 respectively for all your “Surrey September Socialising” needs.

Elsewhere in the fashion stakes, we give you the Top Ten Autumn and Winter Fashion Trends in ‘For Him’ and ‘For Her’, a gorgeous fashion shoot from The Ethical Silk Company and Louise Scotland Style delves into her picks for the upcoming season. Leopard, Cherry Red and Barrel Leg Jeans are among the key trends.

Foodies will adore our Gastronomy Reviews this month too. Three of the best in Surrey Restaurants are featured including the award-winning Rambling Pig By Rapsa, The Black Swan in Ockham (winner of the ‘Best Gastropub’ at the Surrey Awards 2024) and last, but by no means least, Uptown Flava’s bold Caribbean-inspired cuisine in Epsom Social was superb. A must try.

It was also great to catch up with Lisa Maffia and Romeo, from UK garage and hip-hop collective, So Solid Crew, at Kisstory Festival. The brother & sister duo who have been performing to sell-out crowds for more than 20 years headlined the main stage, performing their hits including ’21 Seconds’ to 65,000 revellers. Romeo did his first ever interview too! What a scoop and it’s hilarious – check it out on pages 150-151.

Fego’s recent double award win, ensured that we had to cover their latest Summer menu in this months Restaurant Review. Our testers sampled delights including the ‘Full South African Breakfast’ which included grilled boerewers, poached eggs, crispy potato cakes, chakalaka, chutney, toasted sourdough and bacon. It was an absolute tri-nation triumph! The spirit of South Africa was well and truly covered. As well as a new meal option invented by Matt Fielder who is now coining the phrase ‘Bressert’ which is ‘Breakfast Dessert’ if you will! We are sure it will catch on!

And in the fashion stakes, we have an exclusive shoot with Bumbles in Ashtead on pages 90-99 showcasing their latest collection of beautiful dresses, kaftans, jumpsuits and accessories. And then there’s the ‘Top 10 Stylist Picks’ where the best dressed at the Surrey Awards 2024 were papped and interviewed for this fabulous fashion focus by stylist Natasha Terri Franklin.
