This past weekend our BBQ adventure lead us to Wadsworth, OH for Grizzly BBQ Brawl. Thoroughly enjoyed the event and was well ran by all. Flying into a contest with windy conditions is never fun but with the grace and mercy from the good Lord, we managed to get all 4 entries in. They fell as such:

🐽-5th
🐮-20th 🥴🥴🥴🥴
Overall 3rd out of an outstanding field. Congrats to all who had their name called. Next up Smoke on the Ohio.

We rolled into Madison, IN this past weekend for Madison Ribberfest. First time since May we have cooked on our own equipment. As for as the cook, it was decent and the judges scored accordingly. Villari Foods pork was the bright spot for us in ribs and pork:
🐔- 13th 173.12 (was tight)
🐷-4th 175.45
🐽-4th 177.73
🐮-17th 170.82 🥴(over injected, tasted horrible)
Overall-7th out of 49 amazing teams. Congrats to all that heard their names called.

Been blessed to attend The Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue twice, proud to say we will be heading back again this year. Blessed and highly favored is an understatement. Both times we saw success, in 2021 with a 9th overall finish and in 2022 cooking with my good friend Good Googly Goo BBQ finishing up with a killer RGC. Let’s see if we can keep the trend up! Let’s go!!

It’s comp week and we’re excited about this one. It’s been 3 long years since we have participated in South Carolina Festival of Discovery. Setups are completely different now, but the objective remains the same! Let’s go!

I can’t say enough of how good Villari Foods pork is! Pork scores have been very consistent across the board for us this year. No wonder Memphis Original BBQ has been kicking our butts in pork all of these years! Best Duroc pork out!

Blessed is an understatement. Shoutout to my Heavenly Father for his grace and mercy!

We hit the road and traveled to Covington, TN for Covington World's Oldest BBQ Festival. It was a “who’s who of bbq “. We were blessed and fortunate to leave with some great calls. This is how we fared:

🐮- 7th
Overall: 2nd for RGC!

Thank you God for your grace and mercy! We Rolled into The Kansas City Barbeque Society World Invitational this past weekend to cook a double. Object of the weekend was to get brisket back on track and we done just that.
Day 1 (open):
🐔- 57th
🐷- 25th
🐽- 6th
🐮-11th The Butcher Shoppe
Overall: 4th out of 115 with a 702
Day 2 (invitational)
🐔- 35th
🐷- 62nd 😞
🐽- 26th
🐮- 5th
Overall: 21st out of 81 with a 698
When you’re cooking against the best of the best, mistakes like burning ribs on day 2 can’t happen. Huge shout out to my guy Memphis Original BBQ on a killer day 2! Also a huge congrats to Local Yokels on Day 1 GC, Drew Davis with a killer Day 2 GC along with Glamping Grillers Competition BBQ Team on day 2 RGC. Almost missing a flight due to watching BBQ awards is crazy, but to God be the glory!
Poppa Pig BBQ made the trip into Detroit Friday morning and took the short drive over to Charlotte for the Great Lakes BBQ Association Spring Fling. Coming from almost 90-degree weather to seeing snow flurries was beneath me. Almost threw in the towel. I froze!! For the cook-

Jumped back on the competition trail this past weekend and boy was it a dog fight turning in those 4 boxes. A little rusty, but it did feel good to be back. Made the trip to 12TH ANNUAL BULL MOOSE CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT & BBQ COMPETITION, small in numbers but great teams in attendance. We finished:
6th 🐔
4th 🐷
10th 🐽- it was spoiled, DISGUSTING
8th 🐮
Overall 6th place. Not a great cook to say the least but it did feel good to be back out. This week we fly into Michigan for the Great Lakes BBQ Association Spring Fling. Poppa Pig BBQ traveled to Haines City, FL this past weekend for Ribs On the Ridge. This was the third and final leg of the Florida Triple Crown of BBQ. Coming in exhausted from being sick all week long, I was skeptical if I even needed to take part. As far as the cook:
🐔- 11th (1st on table)
🐷- 4th
🐽- 13th
🐮- 1st (180)
Finished with a 704 for RGC!! Congrats to my guy Chris Schafer with Heavy Smoke BBQ on the GC.

As far as the Florida Triple Crown, we finished 1st in Brisket and overall Grand Champion!

Well back home from Christmas on the River BBQ contest. Disappointed in myself, but another lesson learned. Chicken has been consistently great and what do I do? Change my process 😂🤦🏾‍♂️. Overall a decent cook though. Without the blessings of the good Lord, none of this would be possible!
