Hi friends! I’m Sarah, and Im the owner of Flourish.

I create natural and free-flowing style wedding and event flowers, using eco-friendly floristry methods.

I created Flourish a few years back during the peak of COVID when I was on maternity leave. I didn’t want to go back to my corporate role as I really loved being a mum and spending so much time with my son. I wanted to do something that I could do whilst being around him and something that gave me joy - so I turned back to my floral roots and have enjoyed watching my small business flourish into a beautiful thing 💚

Fast forward a few years, I can’t believe that Im in my dream career, creating beautiful wedding and event flowers for my clients. Ive personally grown so much over these past few years, raising two small kids with my wonderful husband, and a managing a small business - but I couldn’t have it any other way.

How do you correctly wear a buttonhole?

A buttonhole is preferably to be placed on the lapel of a suit, and it should lay flat in a position just by the heart

I always supply our buttonholes a handy clip that allows you to easily pin onto the suit. It is easier for someone else to pin the buttonhole for you, a service that I am happy to help with when delivered to you!

How do you correctly hold your wedding bouquet?

Brides, Bridesmaids, Flower boys - listen up 📣

Ive seen it too many times, holding too high can hide the dress and look awkward, holding too low can be uncomfortable for your arms

Here is how to hold a bouquet -

✨Wrap your fingers around the narrowest part of the stems (where it is tied)
✨Position your thumbs just below your belly button
✨Slightly tilt the bouquet forward (we want to see the flowers, not the stems)
✨Relax your arms and shoulders

I will always check in with you on the morning of your wedding to give a quick demonstration, however, given the excitement of the day, little details can be forgotten which is why I thought it best to mention here too

September through May is peak wedding season, with most vendors booking up 6-18 months in advance. Booking in early with your vendors is recommended to avoid missing out on your favourites

✨Consultation
Tell me about your wedding! I want to know the venue(s), the date, who is in your bridal party, any special designs you would like me to create, and what are your must have items. During this consultation I will provide you with pricing and design guidance specific to your special day

✨Book
Secure your date (and me as your florist)

Hooray! Now you're part of the Flourish family! Here are the next steps...

✨Welcome email
I will send you an email welcoming you and outlining what will happen from here

✨Final consultation
Eight weeks prior to your event date, I will contact you to confirm the designs, colour palette and logistics of the day.

✨Vision board
Once the designs and colour are confirmed, I will send through a final details sheet and a mood board to show how it all comes together - exciting times ahead!

✨Final invoice
I will send through our final invoice 30 days prior to your event date

✨The BIG day
On the day, I will deliver the personal arrangements to you in the morning, give some tips on how to hold the bouquets and answer any questions you may have. I will then head over to the ceremony and reception venues to create your beautiful floral designs

Top wedding flower tips👇🏻

✨Find a florist with designs that you actually love
Each florist has their own style and strengths. Find a florist whose work you love and that you know can create the vision you love. Take the time to communicate with them exactly what you want, rather than sending email requests to ten different florists asking for impersonal quotes, and hoping that they can create your vision

✨Style with the seasons
Have your event flow from the outside in, using seasonal materials and colours

✨Make a statement
Focus your budget to a few statement pieces instead of many smaller often unnoticed pieces. My top recommendations include a beautiful ceremony backdrop (like pictured), head table feature, a lush ceiling installation. Quality over quantity!

✨Make your tables functional
Have you left room for your food platters, your flowers, your table settings AND your guests? Discuss with your florist what you will be having at your wedding in terms of tableware and food (eg platter style), so that they can suggest appropriate floral designs

Wedding bouquet tips👇

✨Store them in a cool dark place
When I deliver the bouquets to you, place them into a cool dark place. This ensures they stay fresh and dreamy as you’re getting ready

✨Store them away from heat
This means an open window, heaters, a fireplace, hair dryers

✨Store them in water for as long as possible
Keep your bouquets in water as long as possible to extend their life. I supply all bouquets in a water source when delivered to you on the morning of your wedding. Take the water source with you in the car ride to your ceremony

✨Protect the dress
When removing bouquets from the water source, give the ends a dry with a towel tea towel so that the water doesn’t drip onto your beautiful dress

✨Minimal touching
Constantly touching your flowers can leave marks and speed up the wilting process. Enjoy them with your eyes

✨BONUS TIP✨
Place your bouquet into a vase at your reception, this way it can serve as an arrangement at your cake table / entry table / signing book table, and keeps it looking fresh throughout the event

✨POINTS TO REMEMBER ✨
I deliver your wedding flowers to you in beautiful condition., and have no control over how they will hold up through the day. Very hot weather and direct sunlight will age your flowers quicker.
