Why are we hoping for a large presence from teachers and other school staff? Because our schools need pride now more than ever! A record number of anti-LGBTQ+ policies have been introduced and implemented in the last year, many of which impact LGBTQ+ young people directly in their schools. According to the Trevor Prohect, 39% of LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered attempting su***de in the past year — including 46% of transgender and nonbinary young people. LGBTQ+ young people who are affirmed at school are less likely to die by su***de.
