The Ostrich Robin returns
Our resident Robin popped in again today - he cast an approving eye over the ales currently on tap and then checked out this weeks Small Beer delivery
Ostrich Pub Robin
Our friendly pub Robin at The Ostrich who normally hangs out in the courtyard has popped in for a game of Shove ha’penny or pool - he’s looking for a playmate if anyone about?
Possibly Probably
The Mighty & The High at the Ostrich Inn Peterborough - 10 to one in the morning, absolutely heaving, band and audience, off the scale - 5 years to this point, possibly, probably and proud.
Davison, Woods, Gummer and Young
Wednesday may be the new Saturday - no idea what this footage looks like - couldn’t get anywhere near the band as we’ve got a couple in - cor blimey
Mellow Submarine at The Ostrich
A great conclusion to another fantastic weekend at the Ostrich - Mellow Submarine trying to set a record for the most songs included in one set list - which was of course brilliant - and here is conclusive proof that “outside” outsung “inside” - we had a lovely crowd of people in and thanks to Mellow Submarine for creating such a lovely atmosphere
DB5 At The Ostrich
There was so much good music on offer in Peterborough this weekend, we had a great day at Duckfest (congratulations to Nigel for putting together such a great day) and then Saturday evening we got to watch the always brilliant DB5 at the Ostrich, and a few other people turned up 😂 a great night they are next back with us NYE, but we’ve got a few more good bands joining us in the interim.
Citizen Smith - Chance
Great gig at Ostrich last night courtesy of Citizen Smith - superb selection of songs start to finish including Chance by Big Country which promoted a bit of a singalong - brilliant song off a brilliant album - a little snippet here
Ostrich fest #4 Stephen Tanner & His Band -
This is an extended bit of footage - original music of notable quality - we love regularly hosting original music at the Ostrich and this weekend were delighted to host both Stephen Tanner & His Band and Nick Corney and The Buzzrats (who unfortunately we didn’t get footage of).
Stephen Tanner is a cut above many many other performers out their - clever lyrics, an engaging raconteur and with his band providing musicianship of top drawer quality - if you would perhaps like to discover someone new to appreciate on the local music scene then a good starting point would be to properly listen to and soak up this track, then go out and watch him live when you can - he certainly gained some new fans this weekend- enjoy!
Ostrich fest #4 - Frankly My Dear
Frankly My Dear - a band we always look forward to welcoming back - they headlined Friday night - the quality of these guys is sublime - one of the best gigs we have had with them, and notable by the size of the audience in to watch them, and for the number of (possibly younger)local musicians appreciating the quality of musicianship that these fellas effortlessly showcase
Ostrichfest #4 - Velocity
Here’s Ostrichfest #4 recap video Nr 2 - Saturday night headliner Velocity - only grabbed a quick snippet - it was a bit full on! - Ricky and the boys shine out in the support they give to other bands and to pubs, always offering support on the rare nights when they are not playing - an absolute mainstay of the local music scene, boundless enthusiasm and lovely gents to boot
Ostrich fest#4 Palmy Ukulele
A perfect end to Ostrichfest#4 today with Palmy Ukulele Band It’s been an absolute belter of a weekend thank you to everyone who has been down and supported us, thank you to our wonderful staff, and thank you to the eclectic wealth of musical talent that have played this weekend - we are blessed with the quality of performers that play at pubs and festivals locally and that we get to watch for free.
We love putting on a mix of music - all genres, covers and originals, but it always stands out when performers have a balance of talent and engagement with the audience - everybody that has played this weekend has delivered that in spades - no better example than Palmy Ukulele Band who concluded proceedings today.
We’re going to post a few snippets of bands that have played this weekend (and where we have footage) just to showcase the great entertainers that we get to host, so working back from today here is Nr 1 - Palmy Ukulele Band

Ostrichfest # 4
Great opening day at Ostrichfest #4 - ales seem to be going down well, cracking performance as always from The High Rollers, (accidentally showed my appreciation by walking in with a mop and bucket half way through Smells Like Teen Spirit) - we’re here all week(end)…..I’ll get my coat……#ThursdaysarethenewThursdays
Couldn’t resist reposting this
A Little tired
It’s been a wonderful but thought provoking weekend.
We have enjoyed some superb music, Jimmy Doherty has been the best supporter to us as a pub that we could ever hope for - lovely gent and brilliant musician - he stood in for us on Thursday night to fill a gap in our music schedule and help us to keep hosting the quality of music we strive for - he goes above and beyond for us.
Friday and Saturday we hosted East Angrier 8 courtesy of Socks On Records - you could not wish to spend your time in the company of such lovely ,friendly, talented selfless people - two days worth - incredible effort from people who do what they do purely for the love of it - we have posted here a little video clip that perhaps sums it all up - and we also had Pete and Lynn from Tacos and Flip Flops - same ethos, incredibly hard working and lovely people and of course lovely food.
On Sunday we had the pleasure of hosting more great music - new to us - The Kobras, great musicians and lovely guys - we’ll be delighted to welcome them back, and, then we watched the football! - not the result we hoped for, but we’re
Proud of our team, and it was a pleasure to watch them in a tournament final in the company of so many lovely people - some evenings take us by surprise for the joy of being in the company of such a lovely group of considerate people who chose our pub tonight and created an atmosphere that really touched Sue and I.
Time moves on, we will look back on weekends like this and be very grateful that we got to share them with the friends customers and family who chose to stroll through our door.
