Second best pub in Peterborough
As a proud Peterborian will take “second best pub in Peterborough” as a great accolade - unofficially awarded to us tonight - a glittering prize - we happen to have seriously good people working behind the bar for us and seriously good customers - pubs are for life not just for Christmas #something suitably derogatory about dry January
Submachine at The Ostrich Inn Peterborough
When dry January knocks at our door we scoff and proudly stick up two fingers as we remind it that it’s mother was a hamster and it’s father smelt of elderberries - easily done when we have Submachine in our corner and Jimmy Doherty lined up for tomorrow - new year - new memories - come and make them with us - Ostrich Inn Peterborough

The power of love - River City Of Hustle
It was a Funny old day today. 1984 was a notable year for Frankie Goes To Hollywood, two massive and controversial number 1 hits with relax and two tribes could they follow it up with a third? what would the controversy be? - and they came up with the sublime The Power Of Love. River City Hustle rustled up a couple of Festive Tunes today, including The Power of Love, and following their wonderful set Sue and I were sitting, chilling, taking it all in and pondering on our little slice of a wonderful world - then as sadly can be the case it is brought to our attention that some kind individuals Christmas gift to us had been to mindlessly vandalise the men’s Loos - its not just the material damage that has to be repaired - it leads to arguments, conflict, upset, all the stuff that we try to keep away from our pub, and unfortunately it took its toll tonight. We were more than a little frustrated and then, at just the right moment a lovely guy called Fletch (who we had seen in the pub many times before but had never before talked to) asked if he could pay for the damage (nothing to do with him just offered out of kindness and appreciation for our pub). We declined his kind offer purely because it wasn’t about the cost, but just frustration at what sometimes ( thankfully not often) comes as part and parcel of life in hospitality. Anyway, thank goodness for people like Fletch for saying just the right thing at just the right time. Its good to finish the day with The Power of Love, ( and Ferris Bueller’s Day off on tv)
Club Brat / Scary Clown / Ostrich Inn Peterborough
There was a quiet unassuming young man called Issac who used to do a few shifts behind the bar for us at the Ostrich Inn Peterborough - he seems to have come out of himself a little of late 😂 - Club Brat went down rather well last night!
We wish you a joyful Christmas
If the Christmas we get we deserve, then we have been blessed - we have been running our original music nights at the Ostrich Inn Peterborough literally for years, and tonight we enjoyed wonderful sets of original music from Stevie Jones, Neil Cousins and Jay Skelton-Dorans - Jay got a few of his friends in music on stage for some festive covers, and this happened - a collection of musicians who have supported live music at our pub year in year out - Paul Douglas, Jimmy Doherty, Dan Collins, David James Smith, Jay Skelton- Dorans - seeing the joy of these guys playing together totally unrehearsed has made our year, thank you, and Merry Christmas to you all from The Ostrich Inn Peterborough
