personal stationery orders are one of my favorites. it may look simple, but these pieces represent a family. this is a family that embraces each persons individuality, loves one another just for who they are and chooses to spread that love with each person they write a letter to. so - off to Canada they go - to put a little more love in the world 🏳️‍🌈🥰🌈

it’s funny bc it’s true 😂 but all joking aside: yea, starting a business isn’t fun all the time. it’s difficult and it can beat you down and there are plenty of days that you wonder ‘wtf did i do this to myself?!’. but then there are also days that make you remember why you started in the first place. like, the day you make your first sale, or hit a milestone, or sign your first big client, or just the days that someone looks at something you created and says ‘wow i love that where did you find it!?’ and you finally have the chance to say ‘ME!! I MADE THAT AND YOU LIKE IT OMG AHHHH!!!’ 😂 those are the days that make all of the difficult ones worth it. and, who knows, maybe you make it big and become a titan of industry, maybe you end up being successful at a smaller scale, or maybe it fails (ideally not)….but the point is, you won’t know at all if you don’t at least try 🙂

Y’all!!! Gauthier Design Co has now reached a big shop milestone…more than 50 sales since the shop opening!! 🎉🎊💖 Within 2022 alone, 15 orders have gone out!! That’s a 275% increase compared to this time last year!

On this day, one year ago, Gauthier Design Co (which was Gauthier Paper Co at the time) sent out it’s first order 🥰. 40+ orders later and I’m still at it! This little side project I started has taught me a lot about myself, though I still have an ungodly amount left to learn.

I started GDC as a creative outlet that would just be a fun and easy hobby and, while it is fun (mostly), I wouldn’t always categorize it as easy lol. I knew I wanted it to be something I built from the ground up, that it would pay homage to my last name (a name of which I hold enormous pride for), and ya know, it’d be cool if it became uber successful idk, like overnight maybe? 😂 The naivety was strong a year ago.

Until GDC, I never really considered myself a “creative” type….I’m not sure I would even say I am today. What I CAN say is this: I am ridiculously hyper-critical of anything I create. I pick every project apart and beat myself up about any flaw - from a letter being slightly off-center to realizing I folded white-core cardstock instead of solid and now I can see the tiniest bit of white in the creases.

Here’s the thing though: all of those flaws we as “creatives” focus so intently on are hardly EVER noticed by the recipient. Seriously. Multiple times I have sent out an order and had anxiety for days waiting for it to be delivered bc I assumed the customer would see those teeny tiny flaws and rip me apart with a horrible review. Wanna know what I received instead? Reviews like the ones posted here.

So, to every single person I am fortunate enough to call a customer; to anyone that saw one of my projects and loved it so much that they bought one for themselves; to any person in my life who has seen me try and build something of my own this past year and been nothing but supportive - thank you from the bottom of my heart 🖤.

Here’s to another year, all of the successes AND learning opportunities, and ideally even more growth 😂.

when you’ve been weeding vinyl since 10 AM Friday morning and you feel like 1 you most definitely have carpal tunnel now and 2 you’re five milliseconds away from pulling your hair out and now it’s 3AM Saturday morning when ~suddenly~ you realize the perfect solution has been sitting in your craft room the whole time and now you’re torn between feelings of ‘i can’t believe i wasted so much time on that omg kill me’ and ‘omg leigh you’re a genius this looks so much better who cares that it’s now 545AM and you have work in less than 4 hours 😍’. 😂 a day - and night. and another morning - in the life of a crafter tryin to grow her small business. ***also the genius solution was clear printable print ‘n cut sheets, since i know everyone was dying to know 😬😬

Things have been…hectic…to say the least, these last few months here at Gauthier Design Co. Between wedding planning, my (almost) entire family contracting COVID, my grandfather having a stroke, work at the dance studio, getting things ready for Ducks Unlimited Expo-DUX, fiancé starting a new job with IBM and just day-to-day life, I have not put in near as much time into creating new pieces for you guys. 😕 With that being said, GDC is going through a little bit of rebranding and overall product offerings. While I will absolutely still be accepting any and all custom orders, be it tumblers, clothing, invitation suites etc, you’ll start to see a theme from the shop that I think you’ll be super excited about. In addition, the Gauthier Design Co website will be launching sometime over the next month and I could not be more excited 🥳🥳. SO, hang in there with me, and get excited for what’s to come 😏✨🖤🦋

three of my favorite things? 1 - custom orders that allow for the personal, one-on-one time with my clients to really gauge what they’re wanting. 2 - taking what they’ve said they want and putting my own creativity into it (bc who doesn’t like that!?) and 3 - (and maybe the most important🥰) sending pictures of the final products to your client and hearing how much they ABSOLUTELY LOVE them and can’t wait until they arrive 🥰🥰🥰 best. feeling. ever!

first international order is being shipped out to a customer in Québec City, Canada! This order really emphasizes what I mean when I say Gauthier Paper Co is all about customization and personalization. What started as a kitschy Valentine’s Day card turned into a birthday card for the customers fiancé all with a little change of verbiage! It’s seriously such a cool feeling to know that I can send off a photo of the final product to my customer and receive “Elle est magnifique et parfaite!” in response ☺️. Starting a small business is definitely a marathon, not a sprint, but the little wins throughout the way make it beyond worth it! @ Little Elm, Texas

So excited to announce our first ever McKinney Trade Days!! Gauthier Paper Co will be at December 18th - 20th right next to our favorite boutique 🥰 We will have all kinds of handmade paper crafts from greeting cards to mobiles to decor invitation suites and so much more! the invitations that started Gauthier Paper Co : our own wedding invitation suite! After handwriting guest and return addresses, embossing, designing and handwriting my own belly band and lining all 100+ invites, I realized I didn’t know what to do with myself when I brought them to the post office. Designing invitation suites became therapeutic and I missed it, so I decided to open up a shop! While there aren’t any suites up at the Gauthier Paper Co shop quite yet, I’m ALL about custom orders and making exactly what you want to represent one of your most beautiful days 🥰.
