Gwanghwamun Gate 光化門: A Majestic Entrance to the Past

The name "Gwanghwamun" translates to "Gate of Shining Light." (in Hanja 光化門) It symbolizes the aspiration of the Joseon Dynasty to enlighten the world with its culture and governance.

Originally constructed in 1395 during the reign of King Taejo, Gwanghwamun Gate stands as a majestic testament to Korea's rich history. This iconic gate served as the main entrance to Gyeongbokgung Palace, the primary royal residence of the Joseon Dynasty.

Gyeongbokgung Palace: A Glimpse into Korea's Royal Past

Gyeongbokgung Palace, (in Hanja is 景福宮) the largest of the Five Grand Palaces built by the Joseon Dynasty, offers a captivating glimpse into Korea's rich history. Constructed in 1395, this majestic palace served as the primary royal residence for centuries.

The name "Gyeongbokgung" translates to "Palace Greatly Blessed by Heaven." It's derived from a Confucian classic, the Shijing (Book of Odes), and reflects the Joseon Dynasty's aspiration for a prosperous and long-lasting reign under the divine blessing.

While much of the palace was destroyed during the Imjin War in the late 16th century, significant restoration efforts have brought it back to its former glory. Today, visitors can wander through its beautiful gardens, admire the intricate architecture, and experience the grandeur of Korea's imperial past.

"Land of the Morning Calm" - South Korea | Dec 5th, 2024 --

The "Land of the Morning Calm," the nickname often used to describe South Korea, has historically been associated with tranquility and serenity. However, the recent declaration of martial law in Seoul has shattered this peaceful image.

“Seoul, My Soul” signifies Seoul as a city that is “centered around citizens, where collective citizenship creates a better Seoul.” It also reflects the dream to be remembered as an attractive and creative city where various emotions, such as “love,” “inspire,” and “fun.”

Seoul Plunges into Crisis: Martial Law Declared

Seoul, a city renowned for its dynamic blend of tradition and modernity, is now embroiled in a political turmoil. President Yoon Suk Yeol's recent declaration of martial law has ignited widespread protests and international concern.

A Sacred Sanctuary: Wat Phra Kaew

Wat Phra Kaew, or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is one of Thailand's most revered religious sites.

Located within the Grand Palace complex, this sacred temple houses the Emerald Buddha, a revered statue carved from a single block of jade.

One of the most significant rituals performed at Wat Phra Kaew is the changing of the Emerald Buddha's robes. This sacred ceremony, conducted three times a year by the King of Thailand, marks the transition of seasons.

During the ritual, the King personally cleans the Buddha statue and adorns it with new robes, symbolizing the protection and well-being of the nation. The ceremony is a deeply spiritual event, attracting both locals and tourists alike
