**IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING ISLAND BREEDERS AWARDS PAYMENTS**

The PEIHRIA had begun paying out the Island Breeders Awards. Due to the Canada Post strike, it is strongly recommended that you receive your payment by direct deposit or pick up your cheque at the PEIHRIA office. Please contact Julie Jamieson at 902-569-1682 to arrange a date and time for pick up or to obtain the form for direct deposit.

The winners of the inaugural PEI C**t Stakes awards for the leading breeder, trainer, trotting stallion, and pacing stallion from the PEI C**t Stakes events in 2023 are as follows:

1) Tyndall Semple Award for Top Trotting Stallion
Winner: EL Rocket
The winner was chosen by money earnings from progeny in the program in 2023.

2) George Callbeck Award for Top Pacing Stallion
Winner: Arthur Blue Chip
The winner was chosen by money earnings from progeny in the program in 2023.

3) Ralph Annear Award For Top Trainer
Winner: Paul Langille
The winner was chosen by the number of wins in the program for 2023.

4) Norman Hall Award For Top Breeder
Winner: Saulsbrook Farm
The winner was chosen by the number of wins in the program in 2023.

Ashley MacDonald was newly elected to the board to serve as a director for the Prince County region. Thank you to Garth Cole who completed his final three-year term on the board.

Cam MacPhee, Nicholas Oakes, and Scott Roloson were re-elected for another term on the board.

Island breeders are invited to attend the PEI Standardbred Breeders Association AGM on March 19th, 2024 in the CDP grandstand at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Dr. Ben Stoughton from the Atlantic Veterinary College will be the guest speaker for the event. He will be doing a presentation on Biosecurity, Risk Management, and Emerging Viruses on the Breeding Farm. Dr. Stoughton is a large animal internal medicine specialist. He works as part of the Large Animal Hospital team treating various medical and surgical conditions in large animals. He has a particular interest in veterinary parasitology, neonatology, neurology, diagnostic ultrasonography and, equine cardiology.

The AGM Meeting, Board Elections, and PEI C**t Stakes 2023 awards for leading trainer, leading breeder, and leading trot and pace stallions will follow.

Terrific job by Dr. Mellish and Dr. Mills at the Artificial Insemination course at AVC today! Great turnout and our breeders learned some valuable skills! Thanks to the staff at Atlantic Veterinary College for their hospitality!

A reminder to all Island breeders that the deadline for applications for the Foal Incentive for foals of 2023 is January 31st, 2024. Please submit your applications at the link below.
