I need your help. Not easy for me to admit and I'm trying super hard to tamp down those residual feelings of guilt and shame. Illogical perhaps but I'm overwhelmed.
For years now I've been taking care of a colony of cats in downtown Lufkin. I feed them daily. Daily. Over 50 lbs of cat food a week, y'all. I trap them, have them spayed and neutered, foster them, find homes for them or TNR them (trap neuter return) if they are past the age of being socialized.
A local animal charity has been helping me with the cost of spay or neuter surgery. They cover that cost. And I am so grateful!! But. I cover the rest- the cost of rabies vaccination, pain medication, flea treatment, ear notching (so we don't try to fix the same cat twice), medical waste disposal, overnight boarding, lazer incisions for quicker recovery time, etc. I'm rapidly approaching the point where my bank balance can no longer handle the burden. There are still over a dozen cats that I need to trap in this one colony alone…and sadly more are turning up all the time.
So. I'm offering these SAVE THE CATS Cookie Kits and I will be using 💯% of the proceeds, every last dime to help these cats. If you can, please purchase one.
Or. Please DONATE to Wendy's Misfits. They are the amazing organization so graciously helping me out. I hate the thought of using up their limited resources.
And. Please spay and neuter your pets.
An average cat has 1–8 kittens per litter, and 2–3 litters per year. During her productive life, one female cat could have more than 100 kittens. A single pair of cats and their kittens can produce as many as 420,000 kittens in just 7 years.
