2022 LIVE • 37 artists, 7 events total (Hear:Her, 4x Unearthed, 2x The Social Sessions), and about 600 of you joining us. All of these events celebrating a little Asian joy and providing a safe community in a field we are vastly under-represented in, and have far too much talent and hard work happening🥲. Some of you who have played a show/come and found me at a show to chat, will know that these have all been 99% self funded and organised around a full time job, with the addition of dealing with the loss of my Dad in April. But it's been worth it every time, especially when I get all the lovely feedback from both artists and those who come to watch.

When I started the platform back in March 2021, I knew I wanted to run some live shows. Questions at the time: how, covid restrictions still a thing and the fact I had no music industry connections or experience. Fast forward to Aug 2021 - I was now a month into my first job within the industry AND I saw future, Hear:Her collaborator, Chris, put on his first ESEA event 'Ripples In The Wave', just like that. I knew I was going to do live shows in 2022, but without that wave of inspiration, would I have started so soon? So, huge shout out!

It has been so great to see the progress happening in this space - even if it doesn't look like it, there is and it's going from strength to strength. So many more platforms popping up, so many more artists getting billed, so many more people getting involved. Let's keep showing them what we've got 🚀

And just like that I have hosted my first ever event✨ Thanks for everyone that came through for Hear:Her at XOYO, you made it a truly magical night. Shout out to our incredible artists: Pritt, Lucy Tun, Lila Yin, Kaisha, Saïna and keydot for absolutely smashing it. Here's to more breaking barriers and getting British Asian artists the visibility they deserve. Alongside this almost everyone involved in this event was also British Asian, from the artwork designer, to the photographer, the videographer and evening host. Photos and videos coming soon 👩🏽‍🎤
