It is a sad day😞 after 40 years my trusty soldering iron tip broke.
Fortunately the iron it’s self is still working, and just needs a new tip.
And today I found out the importance of using good quality brands, as they still make replacement tips that fit my very old iron 😁

So it’s a few days or rest while I wait for the new one

Finished working out the parts for the foam wester 35 template, even decided to add some detail and a faux leather look to the grip. Now to draw all the parts, write the instructions and sort through the progress photos ready to create a new blaster template 😀

Created a simple white LED strip for the mandalorian darksaber, it’s powered by a standard 18650 battery and fits inside the 3D printed darksaber on thingiverse 😀 this is the way

Installed a white LED strip into the Darksaber blade to see how they will look 😀 Blade is printed in transparent pla at 0.16 with a 25% infill.

Got some new LED strips so did a quick test to see the difference between normal 60 LEDs/ meter next to the new 320LEDs / meter. I would say while they are smaller LEDs they are as bright and they produce an even light instead of the dots the old strips created. And as a bonus they can be run directly from an 18650 battery

Made a new version of the radar display, it can either be white, or you can tint the colour by adding a piece of acetate in front 👍

Test fit today of the 1.3” Beskar display I make. I used the excellent Great Ape files and printed at 100%, my displays just drop in 👍. This is the way 😀

All the painting is finished and I’ve designed and made the electronics to fit inside and still be heard ( they can be quite when the detonator is put together) so now there should be no more troublesome negotiations 😀

Finished the weathering on the silver paintwork, now just need to tidy up the paint on middle section 😀

Started painting the thermal detonator I printed as a test 😀 the process so far is , sand then fine sand with 400 wet and dry paper, prime , sand again , 2 coats of black , 3 coats of silver. I have several different shades of silver so I’ve worked from the darkest to brightest. So that’s the base coats done now to let it fully dry before more painting👍

Little video showing the whistling birds and how they work / look in the Great Ape bracer. There’s one switch to turn the circuit on and then the other activates the birds / 12 super bright LEDs. Everything fits within the body of the back of the birds even a 1000mah battery.

Printed the top half’s and some of the details of the Beskar bracers this week, and couldn’t resist testing out my displays and whistling birds 😀 , the 3D files are from Great Ape and printed really nicely, this # is the way

Wiring looms for the next 5 whistling birds all soldered, now to start adding the LEDs and heat shrink all the joints each. This is the way 😀

Finished making 10 of the Pre-Beskar 1.14” tft displays. All ready for their new homes 😀

Finished setting up my first ever 3D printer , 3 days of trial and error and upgrades ( filament guide, bed handle, hair spray ) and I now have a benchy 😀

Finished making some battery connectors. All designed to use the syma x5c lipo batteries, and I’ve added a little switch to make it easier to turn it off.
