Oudeyer launched his portable dining project, Romu, in 2017. The premise is simple: Oudeyer comes to your house and cooks for as few as six friends, or as many as 30. This isn’t event-style catering – rather it’s the experience you’d have in a Parisian restaurant’s private dining room, at home .⁠⠀

Romu offers a three-course menu or a six-course degustation that showcases Oudeyer’s classic French training and interest in Japanese cuisine and, using seasonal ingredients from sustainability-minded producers in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.⁠⠀

Oudeyer and his crew come armed not just with ingredients, but styling know-how: native flowers; pretty, illustrated menus; bespoke crockery and cutlery. Like all things French, style is one of Romu’s best assets;⁠⠀

Sourced from the well known biodynamically-farmed Gateway Vineyard, 100% whole-bunches sealed in a fermenter for 10 days for some carbonic maceration zingyness, then destemmed, left on skins for 5 weeks, aged 17 months in barriques, presumably seasoned as there's no overt oak. It's vibrant, textural, savoury and refined. It's more medium-bodied and elegant with beautifully pitched tannins. 96 Points' ⁠⠀

French born, Romuald Oudeyer has a wealth of experience in the kitchen, having worked in highly renowned restaurants across Europe and Australia. After completing 6 years of study at the Loire Valley Hospitality School, Ecole hotelier du Val de Loire, Romuald launched his career at Michelin Star restaurant, Château La Roche Le Roy in the Touraine region in the West of France.⁠⠀

Romu’s is deeply engaged with an ongoing exploration of good, simple food. He’s immersing himself in indigenous smoking techniques, cooking using paperbark and local herbs, pickling and fermenting, curing meats and baking sourdough bread. All these specialist skills play an integral role in his pursuit of simplicity on the plate, and telling the story of his suppliers’ local produce. ⁠

Electronic music artist Viridian aka Shaun Keyt has spent the last 25 years immersed in music composition and sound production. Most recently, Shaun has been commissioned by Melbourne violinist Sarah Curro to compose for her 10th anniversary show VOLUME combining solo violin with electronics and piano. With a background in classical piano, Shaun composes music for film, corporate media and sound installations. As Viridian, Shaun has released electronic music since the mid 90s throughout Europe and America, with tracks such as Sunhump being charted globally. In addition to this, Viridian has been playing live for over two decades and has performed alongside artists such as Carl Cox, Daft Punk, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin.

Ben has spent the last few years juggling a full-time winemaking role at some of Australia's most iconic wineries, consultant winemaker for family owned growers, Master of Wine studies and development of his own brand Ben Haines Wine. ⁠⠀

In 2019, in the tenth year of his brand, Ben now turns his attention to taking his own wines, moving his base to the Yarra Valley, and expanding his opportunities for winemaking exploration. Ben Haines Wine is founded upon understanding and creativity in the vineyard, and carrying this through to the winery with attention to detail. With his background in viticulture and various experiences across the globe, Ben creates expressive wines with balance, harmony and longevity. ⁠⠀

Sarah Curro graduated in 1994 from the Queensland Conservatorium, where she was the winner of the Conservatorium Medal for Excellence. After winning the Dorcas McLean Traveling Scholarship for Violinists in 1997 she studied, and then taught at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and from 1999-2002 was a member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. In Australia, she has performed with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Queensland Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and is currently a full time member of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. ⁠⠀
