We just had our first snow fall this week — I can't believe we only have two months left until 2023 is over. This year has been so sweet and so kind to us. I don’t really have specific words to describe Kelly and Zach… but a few things that come to mind —

Clients that turned into friends
Gracious and so kind
Their love truly lights up any space they enter
The life of the party
Servitude
The equal participation of their relationship

Serving K&Z the last year and a half has been the truest honor. I remember so specifically when I read their inquiry, I told Shelby, “I don’t know why but I have to take lead on this one.” Something about their story resonated with me and as soon as we hopped on that first consult call, I would’ve paid THEM to hire me LOL.

It’s always bittersweet when a wedding day comes and goes. Nonetheless, it was a JOY to watch your wedding come to life and watch you enjoy it. Every detail, every vendor, every moment was so beautiful.

2020 Lexi and Shelby would be so proud of how far we've come...

If you are a new or aspiring wedding planner, keep reading because this is for you!

Back in 2020 when we started our business (when what seemed to be the worst time to start a service based company when the world was shut down???), we had NO idea what we were doing. Marketing, finances, taxes, finding our niche, what services to offer... We didn't think about any of that. Planning weddings just sounded fun and that was about the extent of "business" we had in mind.

If you are a new or aspiring wedding planner, we created this digital course with YOU in mind. When we first started, we wanted sooooo badly to find VALUABLE education that didn't break our non-existing bank (just being honest here). We searched high and low for affordable, yet rich education and couldn't find much. Either it was cheap education and the value wasn't there or we had to invest $$$$$.

Don't be mislead, we are ALL for investing (big money) into your business... at the right time. But when you're just starting out, the "big money" might not be there. We get it. So we created something JUST for you. Yes, you the aspiring wedding planner who wants to take a leap of faith but has no idea where to start. We are team first look through and through and here are three reasons why:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Not doing a first look means missing out on more than half the day with your partner. This day is about you two… wouldn’t you want to spend the day together??? If you don’t do a first look, the first time you see each other won’t be until the ceremony so you won’t be able to chat, tell each other how great they look, etc. and then after the ceremony it’s pictures after pictures, getting pulled by guests, grand entrance, dinner, etc. etc. and you never really get that moment of just you two!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. 99% of bride and grooms get nervous/anxious right before the ceremony. You’re walking down the aisle with all eyes on you. It’s a BIG moment. But if it was also the moment you were seeing your partner for the first time, it would add to that nervousness/anxiety. If you had already seen your partner for the first time, it would put ease to some of those feelings.

3. The convenience. There are soooo many moving pieces to a wedding day timeline and by not doing a first look means most of the photos can’t happen until after the ceremony. This means cocktail hour will need to be extended and guests can easily get antsy when this happens.

When we first started our business, we were ALL in. But also… we had no idea how/where to start.

We did mentorships with wedding planners we looked up to, but they were all so much more advanced than us that the advice and guidance they gave weren’t super relevant to where we were.

We are 100% team investing in your business. It’s WORTH the money. But sometimes when you’re just starting out, you don’t have the financial resources to invest a lot. We’ve been there. We invested little $$ and the resources we got just weren’t valuable (You get what you pay for🫠).

We dug and dug and dug for resources on “how to’s” — how to put on a styled shoot — how to market to your ideal client — how to find what style aligns with you — how to keep track of expenses — and the list goes on and on. There ARE resources out there, but so many of them aren’t just black and white answers.

It’s a complex industry to dive into, so we are excited to give YOU the resources we wish we would’ve had. Stay tuned because this month, we are launching a special resource just for you🤍

Pro tip: Have your photographer capture photos of your venue/architecture. These make for stunning photos, but also helps tell the story of your wedding day when looking through your gallery!

READ TO THE END FOR A FLORAL CHEAT SHEET.

Can we talk about floral costs? I think florals might be the biggest element that blows people’s minds the most as far as costs in the wedding industry. Most Pinterest weddings you see have a floral budget of $10-15k+.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For our couples, if design is important to them, we suggest having a minimum of $8-10k set aside strictly for florals. We usually suggest 20-25% of your overall budget being set aside for the overall design (florals, rentals, specialty linens, paper goods, signage).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not only are florals astronomically expense right now, but you have to consider the labor costs of your florists (they are HARD workers!!!). Plus rentals like compotes, candle chimneys, cleaning fees, etc.

We don’t say this to be discouraging, but we want you to have REALISTIC expectations when you begin wedding planning. If you’re setting a budget, figuring out how to set realistic expectations, lost on where to start… you should check out our 2 Hour Planning Session (link in our bio).

There isn’t a lot of education out there for bride and grooms to be to fully understand what a wedding planner does. All wedding planners are different in how they operate and what they offer, but in a nutshell, this is what you can expect!
