⚛️🪔❇️ RANGOLI SCIENCE EXPERIMENT ⚛️🪔❇️

We made the latest floating rangoli trend into an easy experiment for kids to try this . Why doesn't the color wash away when we put water on it? 🤔

It's so easy even kids can do it! 👩🏻‍🔬

✨️ MATERIALS NEEDED:
- Metal tray or dish
- Rangoli or chalk powder
- Rangoli or mesh stencils
- Water
- Candles / flowers as needed
- Napkins to clean

✨️ METHOD:
- Apply oil to bottom of the tray
- Place the rangoli stencil(s)
- Sprinkle rangoli / chalk powder and lift the stencil gently from tray
- Now gently pour water from sides of the tray to fill the tray slowly ➡️ Observation: The powder doesn't wash away when water is added because the oil makes a layer between water and color and oil also makes the color stick to the tray
- Decorate with floating candles or flowers to complete the rangoli

🪔 DIY DIYA WREATH 🪔

Try this craft at home using simple materials. Make it with family and friends. Festivals are more fun when celebrated together!

✨️ MATERIALS NEEDED:
- 2 sheets cardstock paper
- 1 paper plate
- crayons / paints / markers
- scissors and glue

✨️ METHOD:
1. Cut out 8 diya shapes with cardstock paper

2. Decorate using crayons or paints. Can optionally add pom poms / glitter / stickers to make it more festive

3. Cut out ring from a paper plate and glue the decorated diyas to the ring

4. Let it dry completely before hanging on door or mantle

As we bid goodbye to our favorite Ganpati Bappa, we are left behind with the enlightenment and realization of what it is we are meant to do--we take this as a blessing from Bappa 🙏

When we started ZDK Events, we felt strongly about doing something in the children's space so we could extend the experiences that we give our child to other families and non-profits. What served as a creative outlet for us had to be shaped into doing something for a greater good, something beyond ourselves. Whether it be a mommy-and-me craft, a cultural festival we celebrate together, a fundraising event for a non-profit, or a Father's Day celebration - this was our way to extend that to more families and spread a little more goodness out there in the craziness we know as the pandemic.

In the last few days and coincidentally during the entire Ganesha festival, we pulled off 5 big events--with our biggest collaborations to-date, with the most engaged audiences at each event, and a lot of smiles throughout 🙌🧿

May Bappa leave you today with the same enlightenment and clear the obstacles in the path you are meant to be on 🧭

As promised, here's the 2-ingredient laddoo recipe for those who want to make something quick and easy for the Ganesha festival. We offered this tutorial at the Virtual Party: Ganesha's Birthday event earlier this week and these were a hit with the kids! 👌😋🙌

It is so simple, even kids can make these!!!

PSA 1: Ingredient options are included to account for anyone with food allergies.

PSA 2: For the uninitiated, laddoos are sweet treats typically made with a base flour ingredient, a sweetener, and clarified butter. This is a modified recipe suitable for a kid's activity.

🟡 INGREDIENTS:

1️⃣ Base options: Graham crackers / Oreo biscuits / Parle G / any simple crackers / almond flour

2️⃣ Mix-in options: Chocolate syrup / peanut butter / Nutella / almond butter / strawberry jam/jelly

🟡 SUPPLIES:

1️⃣ Ziplock bag - 1

2️⃣ Spoon or rolling pin - 1

3️⃣ Large mixing bowl

🟡 METHOD:

1️⃣ Fill the ziplock bag with cookies (about half full) and seal the bag.

2️⃣ Using a spoon or rolling pin, crush the crackers to powder form or very fine pieces if you want some crunch in your laddoo.

3️⃣ Transfer to a mixing bowl.

4️⃣ Add your mix-in ingredient a little at a time and mix with the cracker base. The mix-in is a binding agent and what you want is a dough like mixture that clumps together. Add mix-in until you see the mixture coming together easily. Quantity varies based on base used.

5️⃣ Take a small lump of the mixture onto palms and roll into balls.

These can be enjoyed immediately. Any leftovers (we doubt you will have any!), will stay well in the refrigerator for a day.

Jai Shri Krishna 🙏😀 We just wrapped up 3 Krishna Janmashtami virtual parties in less than 10 days of each other. No words! We saw a part of Krishna in each of the little ones who joined our events. Over 200 children attended our 3 Krishna events and we are stumped with the creativity, questions, and energy of each child. 😍🤩

Children were ecstatic, parents were happy, and some grandparents who joined were thrilled! And WE are feeling blessed! Thank you for joining our virtual events and making us a part of your family! 🙏😍
