Initial discussions regarding the Jubilee Celebrations in Liss took place this week and plans for the Bank Holiday weekend will hopefully include a BYO picnic Big Jubilee Lunch at Newman Collard Playing Fields on Sunday 5th June with lots of attractions and activities for families.
Saturday 4th for individual street parties.
On Thursday 2nd June live streaming of the big national events will be held at The Triangle.
Other ideas to help celebrate include a street parade; a Beacon lighting, tree planting and a historical exhibition plus other children’s activities.
But there’s lots of space for all sorts of events over the 4-day Jubilee weekend. Like the original Coronation celebrations, we’re looking for people and groups to come up with things you want to do to help celebrate Her Majesty’s life and reign. Music, dance, games, competitions, cooking – whatever you’d like to make happen!
If you want to organise a street party but live on a a through route, you could ask to hold it at Newman Collard Playing Fields or the Recs at West Liss or Liss Forest.
Venues for indoor activities include the Triangle, the Village Hall and the Pavilions at West Liss and Newman Collard. Owners of other open spaces and venues, please also step forward!
Liss Parish Council will be working with Newman Collard Playing Fields and the Triangle Community Centre to help make sure we avoid big time/venue clashes and make the most of the 4 days. Please send your ideas for things you’d like to organise, and offers to help to [email protected]. Clayre will make sure venue requests and help offers get to the right person.
