Mr. Eagle 562 2020, Joey Byrne keeping folks fueled up through the crisis.

We want to say, “Thank you!” To all those going out every day and working during this pandemic! We want to send a special shout out to our very own frontline workers, like Joey, an SCC Tenor:

“I am an assistant manager for Starbucks. Starbucks is giving people a sense of normalcy during these times. Starbucks has always been a part of people's daily routines. We are also providing a free coffee for first-responders, and donating coffee in general to hospitals/police stations. For me, being able to serve the community during these times is very heartwarming. Regular customers coming through the drive-thru, checking in on us, and most importantly making sure we are staying safe by giving us gloves/hand sanitizer and more. It is my job as assistant manager, to make sure my partners (Starbucks refers to their employees as partners) are safe, not just physical but also mentally as well. I am proud to work for such an amazing company.”

This month in 1965, a Leather/Levi bar called Jim's Corral opened its doors in North Long Beach. In 1969 it became Mike's Corral, and continued until 1993.

From '93-'95 the bar was known as Wolf's and in 1995 was rechristened Pistons. Pistons changed ownership in 2010 and continued serving the community until 2016. After an extensive remodel, it reopened on Memorial weekend 2017, as Eagle 562.

The space at 2020 E. Artesia Blvd, Long Beach has been supporting the leather and fe**sh community for 55 years, with one of the largest patios in Southern California, a friendly and welcoming staff, and a bootblack stand that's internationally famous. If you want to experience living leather history, this is it.
