Dear friends,

Over the past few years, I have had the honour of working with the incredible Sophie Alway, who sadly lost her daughter, Georgia Lee Gallaway, to su***de on July 6th 2020.

Sophie took this devastating loss and channelled her energy into helping to prevent this from happening to other families by founding Georgia's Voice- Preventing Su***de in Young Women aged 18-25 in Cornwall .

I would like to do my small part by walking the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal from the 26th of September to the 11th of October to help raise money for this remarkable charity.

Please help me support them by donating whatever you can to this life-saving charity.

The link is in my bio.

Many thanks for considering my request.

Johnny.

We we’re so overwhelmed by what we saw, heard and felt at yesterday’s event.

The first-ever Sober Soirée was absolutely fantastic. We received some very emotional feedback throughout the evening.

This has never been done before in Cornwall so there’s no blueprint. Therefore, your feedback is super important.

We value the thoughts of the growing sober community so that we can take the learning for a potential second event.

Please feel free to email feedback and thoughts to [email protected]

Also, we would love for you to share your photos from the evening and tag us in on social media and, leave a positive review on our page.

We would also like to say a massive thank you to every comedian, musician, staff member and the venue for donating their time, talents and space. It genuinely warms our heart to know that our community here in Cornwall has such kindness.

Charity - all the proceeds raised from this event will be shared between two incredible mental health charities, Georgia's Voice and Man down - supporting men’s mental health.

0 Days to go…🙌

Tonight’s the night and we are so excited to meet you all and have a good old knees up.

You might be nervous and that sounds about right.

However, instead of focusing on the nerves, what if you choose to focus on the wonderful people you’re going to meet?

The food you’ll enjoy…

The laughter you’ll share…

And the music that’s sure to get you wanting to move.

You never know, you might even witness Clear Path Coaching - Ross Jackson-Hicks throwing up some shapes on the dance floor 🫣

The purpose of this evening is to meet your tribe.

No more sober and lonely.

Be brave, and tell us how you’re feeling in the comments below 👇

Have you brought your ticket to the yet? 🤔

Changing your relationship with alcohol is tough.

It’s often made tougher because people are unable to understand why you can’t control it.

This can cause a crippling feeling of loneliness and isolation.

Even though it might scare you, you might feel weird or even if you dread the idea!

This is why it’s so vital to meet people that understand.

Abstaining from alcohol is the simple bit, but for it to become a permanent improvement and change in your life it must become sustainable.

This is where you’ll need support, encouragement and understanding in a form of empathy over sympathy.

It’s not a sad or bad thing that you wish to change your relationship with alcohol if the people you surround yourself with truly understand you.

We will all, most likely, feel nervous on the night.

So be brave, challenge yourself and step into the new you by grabbing your ticket to meet your tribe.

You will most likely meet people that will become important fixtures in the life you want to lead.

See you there 🤩

29/11/2022

Things got dark for me in those last few days leading up to my decision to stop drinking.

Life felt unsustainable and as if something had to give.

I’m a husband, a father, a brother, a son and a friend.

So I knew it couldn’t be me!

So on the 29th of November 2020, I had my last drink.

I was a private drinker and drank on my own. I was literally drowning my sorrows.

When you choose sobriety you can choose to accept your sorrows.

My good friend Malachy has been with me every day encouraging me and for that, I will forever be grateful.

You may notice that I gave up right before Christmas.

To be honest, I might not have survived that Christmas at the rate I was drinking, and with the ticket to ride that the festive season brings it would have been carnage.

I had planned to give up for dry January and then Malachy said this.

“There will always be a Christmas, a Birthday or a reason to drink. Think how happy you’ll be next Christmas with one sober Christmas under your belt!”

That statement changed everything.

I’m proud of myself and I’m so grateful for my friends Malachy, Ross and Sophie.

Believe me, if I can achieve this, anybody can.

Wow! 😮

The response to The Sober Soirée Cornwall has been overwhelming.

Being sober, or not, being a big drinker can sometimes feel very lonely and isolating.

The overwhelm comes from realising and validating the fact that there are a seriously large number of sober and sober curious people here in Cornwall searching for community.

These are our founders and they have varying experience and skills in the mental health space.

On the far left, is Malachy Dunne the founder of Lifetime Therapy

Next, there’s Sophie Alway, the founder of Georgia's Voice

Then there’s Ross Jackson-Hicks, the founder of Man down - supporting men’s mental health

And lastly, on the far right is The Self Development Coach Johnny Lawrence, who’s a coach, speaker and podcast host.

These four individuals no longer wanted anybody who is seeking to change their relationship with alcohol to feel alone and isolated, and that’s why they hope to bring together and give birth to a new sober, community and movement in Cornwall.

So, we would love to see you at the first Sober Soirée on Saturday, 14th January at Princess Pavilion in Falmouth, Cornwall.
