🚲🎶 This morning we celebrated T’s life. 🎶🚲

What a life it was! Long and full and interesting. T lived life to the full and always loved to help people out. He was a much loved father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to repair old bicycles, and would donate them - looking all shiny and new - to the local nursery school. T was also a longstanding member of the local choir, and the choir community turned out this morning to say farewell to their friend with a song called Highland Cathedral. It was beautiful. ❤️

It was an honour to conduct for this extraordinary man.

My heart is full of joy again today as McKinsey and Struan sent this reaction to the first draft of their ceremony script this morning. 💖 They fell in love despite there being an ocean between them, and soon we’ll get to celebrate their love in the stunning surroundings of Rannoch Moor.

This is why I LOVE being a celebrant.

🌻 My name is Mel Glasswell and I’m a fully trained and qualified Humanist Celebrant.

🌻 I am authorised to legally marry you anywhere in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and I’m a member of the amazing Modern Humanist Collective.

🌻 I’m married to my soul mate, and I have three children and a crazy puppy - my family is my world.

🌻 I LOVE to write. I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, so creating bespoke and personal ceremonies is a dream job for me.

🌻 I conduct weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies and funerals, and I’m happy to travel anywhere in Scotland to conduct your ceremony.

🌻 I’m available to conduct full ceremonies in English and Italian 🇮🇹 and I’m also happy to include many other languages as readings or symbolic gestures.

🌻 My passions are sunshine, music, travel and art. It’s great when I can combine all four!

💕 When Jenna and Giuseppe got married!

I love to conduct bilingual ceremonies, and the wedding of Jenna and Giuseppe last May at was so much fun!

Giuseppe’s family came all the way from Sicily and experienced the wonders of a Scottish wedding!

We had a handfasting, a candle-lighting, poems and readings - all in Italian as well as English. 🇮🇹 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It was a beautiful ceremony for two beautiful souls. 🩷

Beth and Scott are coming home from New Zealand in April to get married at the beautiful in Glasgow. They’ll be bringing baby James with them and I can’t wait to conduct their ceremony!

I’ve known Beth since she was a little girl and I can honestly say that she is one of the sweetest and kindest people I know. 💖

This adventurous pair will have a wedding day full of love, fun, and heaps of laughter as they tie the knot surrounded by friends and family! I’m so excited! 🥳

🩷 THE PROPOSAL 🩷

One of my favourite things to ask about when I meet new couples is the PROPOSAL story. I’ve heard so many from the spontaneous “I can’t wait for the perfect moment, I need to do it NOW” proposals, to the perfectly planned, super-romantic, special-place proposals. Some have us bent double with laughter, others have us crying with the emotion of it all. One thing every story has in common is, of course, LOVE.

💖 Merry Christmas 💖

Merry Christmas to you all! I hope you have a joyful and restful time celebrating. This year has been amazing for me - I have met and married so many beautiful couples, created ceremonies for many lovely families, and made friends with many amazing humans working in the wedding industry. 💝

If I married you this year, I hope you’re enjoying your first Christmas as a married couple! It was an honour to get to know you all, and you now each hold a special place in my heart. 💞

⭐️ WRITING ⭐️

I love to write. I’ve been writing for years and I have had a few things published, but I don’t often share my poetry. My poems can be a bit heavy.

I wrote this poem on Valentine’s Day 2024. It’s a light look at loss and love. It’s not a great work of literature, buts it is a part of me, and it’s a testament of my love. That what grief is, isn’t it?
The love that’s left behind.❤️

Yesterday I conducted my last ceremony for 2024, and what a ceremony it was. It was my absolute honour to conduct a Forever Ceremony for a wonderful young boy to celebrate him officially becoming a permanent member of his wonderful, caring family - who love him so much.

To celebrate we listened to three beautiful poems. We had a 17-person sand blending, and a box of warm wishes that will be kept safe until this wonderful boy turns 18, when he will able to open the box and read all the heartfelt notes and letters (and enjoy a wee tipple as there will be a bottle of vodka in the box too!)

I left with a huge smile on my face and a warm heart, and the family and friends went on to party in the best way possible - with a huge bouncy castle to play around in!

What a kind, loving and smiley boy. These are the days that make us feel so grateful for what we have and the people we have in our lives.

Thank you to the wonderful family who trusted me with yesterday’s ceremony. Have the best FOREVER possible - full of happiness, love, and fun! 🩷

What a beautiful sunny Thursday we had today in Glasgow! The sunshine reminded me of this day back in August when I conducted a bilingual wedding ceremony for Alan and Rocco at the gorgeous Pollokshields Burgh Hall 🇮🇹 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ❤️

We shared a beautiful poem by Witney Hanson, and Rocco and Alan trusted me to share three reasons why they love each other. ❤️

A truly memorable day for these two handsome lovebirds - full of love and laughter! ❤️🥰

Thank you for having me - I LOVED getting to know you and being part of your special day was such a joy!

When the kids are no longer kids and they’re all away living their best lives.
