This evening we had the wonderful experience of watching Betty (one of our goats) give birth to not 1, not 2, but 3 babies. . My dog was barking at the barn so I went out to see what was up. She’d bark, then look at me, then the barn, and repeat. Shortly after I heard the kid cry. I bolted to the barn to find the first kid with mom. Within the next 15 minutes two more kids were born. . Not an ideal day for it as we had a Manitoba spring snow storm, but hey what’s the point of doing this without a little excitement and challenge. . We’ve got them bedded up in a warm spot. Praying they all make it. Our other female goat should be due any day now as well. If she could wait until next week that would be excellent. . . Soon we will have a steady supply of goat milk, some of the best quality goat milk in the world (the bread). This will spearhead our goat cheese experimentation. The entire purpose of having them. Got some office time to get organized for our 2024 weddings. Today I’ll be putting together our future order of chicks. . We raise our own birds, have them inspected and then are able to use them for your special day. . We’re doing something out here that isn’t that common. We are involved with the entire process. From our garden to our meat birds, we’re invested in your big day. Our work begins long before the prayer of the dinner.
