Meet the Judges.👏

Our Final judge is Elena Whitham MSP, who has been an MSP since 2021 and was recently appointed as Minister for Community Safety in November last year.

⚡What other judge would you compare yourself to?
I’d like to think I am most like Sharon Osbourne because like her I spent half my life in North America, experimented with wild and wonderful hair colours and have been known to have an opinion or two.

⚡What are you looking to see from the acts at Lex Factor?
Obviously, it’s not just about the music but it’ll be about the stage presence as well. Anyone playing Metallica is likely to be a winner for me.

⚡Why are you supporting Lex Factor?
There are some brilliant charities involved in Lex Factor and I’m looking forward to enjoying some live music and supporting these great causes.

Our Fourth judge is Kate Dixon, Corporate and Partnerships lead at Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity,

✨What other judge would you compare yourself to?
I loved pop idol as a teenager (yep gives you an insight into my age doesn’t it!) and Nikki Chapman was always my favourite judge. She was always a bit nicer than the other judges. She’d often say, “it takes a lot of courage to stand up there and do an audition” and I couldn’t agree more.

✨What are you looking to see from the acts at Lex Factor?
Good music, entertainment and everyone having fun!

✨Why are you supporting Lex Factor?

I have always admired Bruno Tonioli’s enthusiastic judging on Strictly Come Dancing.

I am looking forward to seeing a celebration of music and life.

Meet the Judges. 😍

Our second judge is Iona Fyfe an Aberdeenshire folksinger, MG Alba Musician of the year and Scots language advocate.

⭐What other judge would you compare yourself to?
I’m certainly not a mean judge, but if you hurt my ears, I won’t be too smiley. I couldn’t even tell you what judge I could compare myself to, because I haven’t watched any reality TV shows since the days of Sharon Osborne on Xfactor...

⭐What are you looking to see from the acts at Lex Factor?
Storytelling through performance – you can get away with tonal inaccuracy, as long as you convey the message of the song well – that’s the folky style anyway!

⭐Why are you supporting Lex Factor?
Lex Factor is an exciting evening with the endeavour to raise funds for a number of children's charities which support families through extremely difficult and troubling times. With the cost of living crisis, many people can’t afford to donate disposable income to charity on a monthly basis, so putting on a fun event like this is a great way to give a boost to these charities.

First up we have Lord Carloway, the Lord President of the Court of Session and part-time bassist.

⚡What other judge would you compare yourself to?

⚡What are you looking to see from the acts at Lex Factor?
Two Things. First some skilled musicianship - as a bass player, I will be looking for some effective rhythm.

Secondly, innovation either in the form of new material or in the interpretation of old songs.

⚡ Why are you supporting Lex Factor?
Supporting live music is a good reason in itself but this also promotes collegiality amongst the legal profession. Most of all, raising contributions for the hospital charities is a worthy cause.
