We will be taking a break from Carnival now but have a provisional date of Saturday 25th November for 2023! Updates to follow next year.

Exeter Carnival needs you!

If you did not already know… Exeter Carnival returned to Exeter last weekend! We would like to hear from YOU! Please fill in our survey and tell us what you thought: https://www.research.net/r/ExeterCarnival2022

This is our first year and we know there will be lessons to be learnt. Everyone who takes part in this survey and provides their contact details will be entered into a prize draw with a chance of winning one of three InExeter Independent £50 gift cards.

You need to be 16 or over to take part and should complete the survey by Sunday the 4th of December 2022.

The prize draw will take place on Tuesday the 6th of December and the winners will be notified by Friday the 9th of December 2022.

Any comments on the post will not be added to the survey so please do take the time to fill in if you can – it will take less than 5 minutes and you could win a £50 gift card to spend at one of the wonderful Independent Businesses in Exeter.

Just wow!

This weekend carnival returned to Exeter. What an evening of joyous celebration!

Thank you to all the entries who came and made the night such a success – without you we would not have had a carnival. It was such an amazing night, thank you for braving the weather and doing what you do best – putting on a show. We could not have done it without the amazing support we have had from the carnival community and local organisations who took part, so thank you to each and every person involved.

A big thank you to the people of Exeter – your love for this city shines. The show had to go on and it was wonderful to see so many there enjoying the parade.

Finally, we could not have put the carnival on if was not for:

⭐ The businesses that make up the Business Improvement District. This is event was made possible by these member businesses of InExeter, whose funding allows incredible events to take place in the city.

The Official Charity of Exeter Carnival is Young Lives vs Cancer and will be collecting tonight. Please do not throw coins for the safety of you and others.

Young Lives vs Cancer help families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them. Last year in Devon they supported 49 families and gave out grants totaling over £17,000.

The charity will be the official bucket collector at Exeter Carnival where spectators can give in the form of loose change during the carnival.

No pennies? No problem! Test CARNIVAL to 70450 to donate £5. Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message.

If you require medical treatment during the carnival our first aid point is located at Cheeke Street or please seek support from a Steward or Security who will contact the medical team. If there is a danger to life and there is a medical emergency, please call 999.

Apologies that we are not able to respond to all the messages today we are busy on the ground getting ready for the carnival.
We wish it was dry but sadly we cannot order the weather. We WILL be proceeding as planned.
A lot of work goes into planning a carnival and sadly if we were to cancel we would not be able to rearrange due to the road closures. Whilst it gives rain, so far in Exeter the weather has not been as bad as forecast. We hope you can embrace the Great British Weather, wrap up warm and join us.

Thank you to our Volunteer Stewards ❤️

There will be Stewards manning the route of the carnival – they are there for the safety of the crowd. We ask that you do not stand on the road but stand on the pavement at all times for your own safety.

There are roads that have to be kept clear for emergency access – please assist the Stewards by vacating any area they request.

Our Stewards are led by a team of volunteers and we thank them for helping us with the carnival and we thank them for helping bring back Exeter Carnival 🥳

Please do show them your appreciation on the night by helping them and following any requests they make.

We also have security at the carnival who will be supporting the event and will be present throughout the procession.

All volunteer stewards and security are there to help make this a fun and enjoyable, welcoming experience for everyone – please help them in doing so by listening to any instruction given.

They will be out on the route from 5pm, ready to help you enjoy the surprise warm-up acts

We all look forward to welcoming you to Exeter Carnival!

With lots of people in the city for Exeter Carnival we have organised temporary toilets that will be located in Paris Street so there are free facilities in the city. These included accessible toilets also.

We are expecting these to be busy and will have queues! Please be safe and sensible using these facilities, as they are located next to the parade route on Paris Street but we hope it’s helpful to spend a penny!

Please leave enough time to travel into the city today.

If you are travelling into the city by car for the carnival it is recommended you arrive well before 4pm. Heavy congestion is expected within the city and queuing is expected at car parks. Road closures for the carnival will start from 5pm when our warm up acts begin along the route which will affect routes to certain car parks. Some roads will not reopen until after 9pm and there maybe longer travel journeys than usual leaving the city after the carnival. The city is expected to be very busy, and we appreciate your support in travelling early.

Whilst we are hoping for the glorious sun we have enjoyed today please do be prepared for the weather tomorrow!

Only 2 more sleeps! We are ready for carnival… are you? Join us for the first carnival in Exeter for 24 years and the first right through the heart of the city ❤️
If you haven’t already, please do consider travelling into the city early on Saturday. We are expecting it to be busy. Don’t forget to be aware of delays leaving the city after the parade ends and packs down too.
