We had the BEST time at the KC Reggae Music & Jerk Festival ❤️💛💚 What a b-e-a-u-tiful celebration of life, love, art, food, Jamaican culture, and reggae music!

When asked every night when I got home, “what was the best part of your day?”, the answer was always the people I met, and the connections and friendships I made 🫶

Thank you Charlie for driving 18+ hours from Arizona to share your music with us and bringing the party to life! My only wish is that we could've enjoyed it for longer. I’m sorry I picked the hottest day of the year, and your computer overheated. Thank you for being such a good sport and for going with the flow. Let's not go that long ever again without seeing one another! I missed your face.

Thank you AC and Todd for opening up your home and space to people you had never met. You made everyone feel so welcomed and comfortable through your kindness and generosity. I am so very grateful to you both. May Todd rest in peace and feel how loved he is. His kindness and support will never be forgotten, as not yours.

Thank you Sydney and Alexa for all your love and support. Thank you for bartending all evening so I could bop in n' out. Thank you Sydney for being THE BEST managing officer. An Abundance of Gratitude: Pt. III

Thank you Mom and Dad for being my number one supporters, since before I was born, in whatever I decide to do or don’t do. Thank you for instilling values in me, through example in the way you both choose to live your lives, that make me a good person and make it possible for me to be and do anything I want in this lifetime.


Thank you Cory for being someone who creates your own path by going against the grain and swimming upstream, versus doing what others think you should be doing. Thank you for showing me that I too can swim upstream without fear of drowning. After all, we are Swimmers.


Thank you Audrey for making the trip from Chicago, without hesitation, to lend a hand at the opening. Thank you for always keeping the energy light, playful, and fun, even in the most stressful of times.


Thank you Aubrey and Brandon for running around like chickens - picking up this, picking up that, hauling coolers, making phone calls, putting out fires left and right. Thank you Aubrey for reminding me to ask for help. And when I fail to do so, for recognizing I need help and stepping in regardless.

An Abundance of Gratitude: Pt. II

~ Thank you Julio for taking my vision, a concept that started off as sketches on napkins, and bringing it to life in the real world. You are a powerhouse, a jack of all trades, and your craftsmanship is a work of art.

Queen of Acorns is proof of that.

Thank you for being patient with me.
This was my first building project of any kind, and I’m sure more often than not I created more work for you than if you had just done it yourself.
But you allowed me to continue working beside you while educating me along the way.

I thank you whole heartedly for your belief in me and your dedication to the project, for giving me the opportunity to make huge life changes, for the copious amounts of smiles and laughs, & for the wisdom and knowledge you shared with me.

This project gave us the opportunity to get to know one another better than we probably ever would have without it. For that I am forever grateful.

Thank you for opening up and allowing me to really know what a wonderful man and soulful being you are.

You are so incredibly loved, and I hope you can feel that wherever your soul may rest.

Since the day I met you, eleven years ago, you have showed me what it means to love in all its forms
- friendship, playful, romantic, enduring, selfless.

You often remind me to take life by the wheel and steer it in the direction I want to go, instead of letting life whizz by me as though I am a passenger, looking out the window at a scenic view I long to be apart of.

I woke up one morning to a sticky note you wrote me saying, “ Goals never go away, they just grow with you. Don’t out age your goals.”

Thank you helping me understand that dreams don’t have to stay dreams.

Thank you for putting forth so much of your time, energy, and love into this endeavor and always supporting me as an active participant.

Thank you for seeing and understanding me and the visions I have of what I want our life together to look like.

An Abundance of Gratitude: Pt. I

Man, oh man. This has been a long time coming.

No actions, no amount of hugs n’ kisses, nor words, no matter how little or how much is said or how it’s worded, will ever fully express my gratitude to everyone who made Queen of Acorns come to life and her debut so AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL and SPECIAL.

A day I wish I could capture in a movie reel and replay over and over again.
Or shrink everyone down into miniature versions of themselves,
squeeze the whole day into a giant snow globe,
and relive it every time I shake it up {If only rainbow confetti had rained down on us in real life}

The building process, weeks leading up to the event, and the day of by no means went down without a hitch, but it was everything I could have imagined and more, hiccups and all.

Thank you to everyone, who has been supportive of me from day one. You have listened to the countless, crazy ideas I’ve had over the years. And can finally bear witness to having followed through with one of them -
I’m a big believer in timing is everything.

Thank you to everyone who may not have been in my life as long, but long enough to trust in me and believe in me regardless.

Thank you to everyone who was able to put aside their responsibilities and take time out of their busy schedules to make an appearance at the opening.

Thank you to everyone who wanted to be there, was unable to make it, but supported in other ways, near and far.

Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of love and support - none of this would be possible without you.

And thank you God, for He has blessed me abundantly.

With peaks
valleys are to follow suit.

With great reward
comes even greater loss.

The day after the grand opening for Queen of Acorns - one of the happiest of days - Jaziel and I sat down with a team of doctors and discussed an end of life plan for someone we love very deeply. No doubt the most difficult conversation we’ve had to partake in. I was listening, but the only thing I really heard was 3 months to live.

Life went from brilliantly bright and colorful
cheeks hurting from smiling ear to ear
to a painfully oppressive
black and white horror film
all in a matter of hours.

Perfectly representative of
the yin and
the yang.

Three weeks later we lost our loved one.

I’m fortunate not having much experience with death. However, the few times I have gone through the traumatic process of losing someone, I fall into a pattern of pulling away and retreating. I have bad days with good moments sprinkled throughout.

Several months later
I find myself emerging from under the dark cloud that’s been looming.

I wedge myself back into the lives of family and friends
and recuperate from the damages my silence has caused.

I dig beneath a surface I didn’t know existed and harvest the energy I need
to keep busy
to think
and do
anything
outside
myself
for my mind has held me prisoner for far too long.

I am exhausted. I’m exhausted of feeling as if my days are

meaningless.

For I know all too well that
every inhale
every exhale
every second
every minute
of every day
every sunrise
every sunset
are all so fragile and fleeting.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING is guaranteed.

Life is so very precious
and I need to treat it as such.

I will let this sit and breathe.

And my expression of gratitude will follow suit.

Shake dat laffy taffy 🙈

I don’t know about you, but this cabinet color reminds me of banana laffy taffy! Originally, I was slightly disappointed with the color and planned on re-painting. Thought it was going to look like the yellow in the last picture, which shockingly enough is the same exact paint. Just goes to show lighting is everything. But once we got our counter in there, eveything ended up coming together nicely. Long story short the laffy taffy yellow stays 💛

Also, for anyone wanting to build cabinets give yourself plenty of build time. I severely underestimated how long this was going to take. Let’s just say it took a very long time.

Ladies & Gents, I present to you TWO STANDING WALLS! This was one of the biggest milestones for us. And no your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, the one wall we accidentally framed the wrong way 🙃

We wanted to stay true to the original Cameo’s shape, so we used the old wall as a template. The video included shows how well the template fit the wall we built. Fit like a gem I tell yah! We were so happy, high-fives n’ hugs were necessary.

This was my cute, little 1972 Cameo pull-behind trailer 🥰

When we first started the demo process in December 2021, we noticed a lot of wood rot and exterior issues. After much thought, we decided to strip it down to the frame and completely rebuild the camper. This was a project that my boyfriend, his father, and myself had never taken on before. But I had watched hours and hours of youtube, including multiple trailer rebuilds, so I was basically a professional.

3 tarot cards walk into a bar…

This is the start of their story.

On February 10th, 2020, I drew three cards from an animal, Spiritsong tarot deck. The first card supposedly representative of my past, the second card, my present, and the third card, my future. After shuffling the 78 card deck for a hot minute, I ended up drawing a Two of Acorns (falcon), Nine of Acorns (panther), and Queen of Acorns (deer), all in rising, sequential order. That was my first moment of “Huh, I wonder what that could mean?” 😂 My second Ah-Ha moment happened when I came to learn that Acorns is used in place of traditional Wands and is a fire element, symbolizing growth, passion, will power, creativity, and self-discovery. My zodiac sign just so happens to be Sagittarius, which is also a fire sign.

To most, this might seem coincidental and hokey-pokey. However, I took it as a sign. As a reminder of the unlimited potential I have inside myself to do whatever I set my mind to. Everything I was reading, in regards to what each card represented, resonated so deeply. Almost eerie how reflective the cards were of my own path. I felt a sense of peaceful urgency wash over me. I knew I had to stop wasting time. I had to stop thinking about all my crazy, out-of-the-box ideas that I was constantly daydreaming about, and I needed to FINALLY take action.

I had been talking about starting my own business for years. As much as the thought terrified me, I knew in order to make that dream a reality, I was going to have to quit my boring, comfortable, restaurant management position and put all my energy into this project. And that is exactly what I did.

Bringing us back to the present, almost 2 and 1/2 years later, I have built and created what has become my own business and my baby.

I present to you my cocktail camper, Queen of Acorns.

Who would have thought that the Queen of Acorns, which had represented my future in a card 2 years prior, would quite literally become MY FUTURE.

Let the journey begin.
