ON THE ROAD AGAIN
I went to a karaoke event the other night and managed to sing THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT (my show opener) and DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT(my show closer) credibly enough to have people dancing and got some nice compliments as well. Therefore the entertainment bug has bitten me again and I’m ready to bring out Rockin’ Ricky for another tour of rehabs and senior homes. Or any event where you need an hour of very semi-professional singing and goofy behavior by a guy wearing a funny suit!

Suppose I told you there was lost film that had special effects to rival STAR WARS, was filmed but never finished in the early 70s, only to have most of the film lost? Suppose I also told you that film starred Julian Jones-Leitch, 5 year old son of the late Brian Jones, Gram Parsons and Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and Papas (although both Gram and Michelle never show their faces)? It’s been a long time since an artist has captured my fancy like Mickey Guyton. Her music is something special, socially impactful, courageous!
Then to watch her interview and realize the artist you admire is an even better human being is REALLY SPECIAL!
The interview is 10 minutes so I doubt many will watch that, but you can enjoy this performance of MAKE IT ME, the song she wrote for her husband! Pay particular attention to the entire audience dancing in unison together!

OK, 11-2-13 is probably one of Taylor Swift’s favorite dates, but for Laura and Christian Zwileneff it was the day of their wedding when I was their DJ. Also, I think that was the last time I saw them until today when I met them at Starbucks WITH their TWO daughters to get them a copy of Loveblind: Tales Of A Footloose Man by Rick Haggard.

Some of you remember my obsession with a certain song. I posted a different version daily for a couple of months.
Well, I didn’t step away from the tune. In fact, I’ve ended every singing gig the last few years with it. I’ve been blessed that my buddy Waverly Milor has allowed me to sing backup on it a few times.
But I lost track of the cover versions online and completely missed this awesomely reworked and reworded country version by Chris Lane and Lauren Alaina!!!

RICK & THE DE’LITES BIG NEWS
Please join us October 23rd at my church, Laurel Hill Baptist off Airport Road as we once and for all disprove the age old postulate that Baptists don’t dance! The church fellowship hall will be transformed in Martha’s Soda Shop, serving hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream sodas, cotton candy and all sorts of other stuff that vegans won’t touch with a 10 foot pole…..hey, we may dance, but we’re still Baptists.
The theme of the evening is “Remembering The 50’s,” meaning I’ll be dressed in my Elvis gold suit and The De’Lites will be sporting poodle skirts as we perform a unique set list I call IDOLS OF THE 50’S interspersed with DJing and various contests.
Everything is free, but we request that you bring along a few bucks to contribute to our Shoe Box Ministry, which ships out over a thousand shoeboxes filled with goodies and, of course, a Bible to thousands of children all over the world who otherwise would get nothing for Christmas! It’s a great cause and last year our box stuffing night was featured on both NBC29 and CBS19 news.
Anyhow, here’s a taste of what we’re working on. The event starts at 5pm with food service from then until the two hour Sock Hop officially begins at 6:30pm. Denise, Holly, and myself hope to see you then.
