VO PRESENTS: DANNY SANCHEZ

Headlining the night, will be bringing his hard hip-hop flows and infectious soul vocals to The Green Door.

Danny is a young singer/rapper from South London. His music is a reflection of the trials and tribulations of everyday life and the struggles of keeping up with everything around us. His harsh rap combined with his soulful vocals allows Danny to explore many different genres and creates an ambient sound. His hispanic background mean that Danny can incorporate Spanish into his songwriting and his roots are definitely reflected in his music.

Having had an incredible year, he has grown dramatically and has loads of new music you need to check out beforehand. ‘Think Twice’ and ‘Gimmie a sec’ are some of VO’s faves!

VO PRESENTS: KYMARA

Growing up in the Netherlands and raised by a beautiful queen, Josje, was taught the importance of talking about and expressing your feelings. This upbringing is incredibly present in Kymara’s music, particularly heard in her honest lyricism. Music has always been a major part in her life, but in her mid 20s she started to find her own unique voice through songwriting. It was there that she was able to draw from her own life experiences and put it into her music with themes of love, race and personal growth. Her music is a beautiful combination of Nina Simone's storytelling, D'Angelo's soulfulness and the purity and rawness of Janis Joplin.

Incredibly lucky to have Kymara and her awesome band performing for us, she is by far one of the best, most captivating and talented artists in the Brighton scene. Her live performance will blow your mind 🤯 So excited for this performance !

VO PRESENTS: SAFIYYAH
d is a singer/songwriter born and raised in West London with heritage from Portugal and Morocco. Safiyyah’s music isn't as easy to corner to a set genre but contains elements of Neo-Soul, low-fi, contemporary R&B and jazz. Her influences are Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu, Prince and just generally powerful female influencer such as Nina Simone, Frida kahlo. Her soothing voice, combined with the ambient edgy beats, expect to be taken on a journey.

So grateful to have Safiyyah coming down to perform; her recent sold out London headline show looked an incredible vibe and we know she will bring that same incredible energy to Brighton. Get reaaady !

VO PRESENTS: ZVK

is a 21-year-old musician, record producer, rapper, and songwriter from South London whose love of music has only grown since the age of 6 when he began learning to play the piano. That love of music continued as he started playing in his church band. The love of musicianship evolved and developed into production and eventually into artistry.

ZVK describes his sound as a versatile mixture of modern hip-hop, neo-soul and trap.
He grew up listening to a lot of reggae, gospel, R&B and hip-hop. ZVK names Robert Glasper, A2, Knucks, J Dilla and Kendrick Lamar as his main musical influences.

He’s first on the line up so make sure to get down early as you really don’t want to miss this !! Very excited and lucky to have him 😁

Tomorrow night, he’s dropping ‘C U Ltr’ : with relaxed flows cutting through the spacey, bouncy beat, his lyrics create the perfect picture of how many of us are feeling in lockdown.

Music Venue Trust are launching a major national initiative to prevent the permanent closure of hundreds of grassroots music venues right across the country threatened by the COVID-19 crisis.

Our grassroots music venues are special to all of us and essential to The Great Escape. They are the place where artists begin, the place where audiences fall in love with music, the place where our communities come together. We can't afford to lose them.
